PRESENT: The Mayor, T.S.Tribble, Clerk J.C.Massie, Attorney Don Trumbo,Engineer, E.M.Ratliff; Aldermen John Bynum, N.F.Drake, Don, Fuller, C.T.Harding, Clem Pearson, Roy,A. Scott, J.F.,Stanford, S.S,Stephens. THE M I THE F i of the Meeting of March 10th,1930 were read and approved. ll'IING.BILLS against the City,properly approved,were presented and on motion by Alderman Full( seconded by Alderman Harding,passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor,were ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same; Dave -.Lewis '$10.50Fayetteville Daily Leader $1.60; W.H. Rollins $1.00;Ben Porter, $18.75; Elmer Wier, $6.00. 1. SHELLY'S report showing 180 blocks cleaned during the week was presented and on motion was ordered received and filed. BONDS: The Bonds of Harry F. Hamilton and A.C.Bond,as Gas Fitters, were presented, HEHamilton, ACBond;' and on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Bynum and duly passed,the bonds were approved and ordered filed. SWEFPER:I The Mayor and members of the Council who had been to Fort Smith to investigate the mat DRAINAGE BLK 8 GUNTER: SIDEWALK BUCHANAN AVENUE* of a Street Sweeper,reported favorably as to the efficienc? of the machine viewed,but there was no action by the Council in the matter. It being represented that the proposed drainage in Block 8, Gunter Addition would be cared for by Mr Parrish,if the City would construct a suitable culvertinthe alley ad,jac to his property,and that the cost of such construction would be about $60.00, Alderman By moved that the work be undertaken be the Street Department,the cost of their work to be limited to $60.00. This motion was seconded by Alderman Pearson and received the following vote, ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearsono, Scott, Stanford, Stephens; nays none, and was declared passed by the Mayor, A petition asking that sidewalks be ordered constructed along the West side t Buchanan Avenue from Dickson Street to the South line of the property of D.H.King was present ed,and Alderman Harding moved that the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to issue the necessary legal notices to the owners of real property abutting on said Buchanan Avenue,on the West side thereof,to construct concrete sidewalks along their respective holdings in manner required by law and the city ordinances thereto pertaining.This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens; nays none, and was declared passed by the Mayor. CONTINENTAL A request from the Continental Oil Company for permission to make some OIL CO., REQUEST. alterations in their plant ,and to break the sidewalk for that purpose,was referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report. MAPLE STR.On motion duly passed,the City Attorney was directed to take the necessary steps to compel! WALKS: the construction of sidewalks at certain placed on Maple Street according the the orders of the Council. SELL OLD; On motion by Alderman Drake, seconded by Alderman Fuller and passed by the unanimous vo STUDEBAKER TRUCK: i of the Council,the Mayor and the Fire Committee were authorized and directed to dispose of the old Studebaker Truck of the Fire Department. CHANGE IN On motion by Alderman Drake;d. seconded by Alderman Stanford and. duly passed,the City LOCATING,' BEAMS IN Engineer was authorized to alter the plans for placing the beams in the Fire House so as to FIRE House; give greater clearance MR GREEN SNOOKER TABLES: KEISTER SEWER: Mr Green requested permission to oepn a resort and establish tables for playing.a_game called "Snooker". Action on his request was deferred for investigation. Mr Jim Kiester requested permission to make excavation in the alley nobth of the Hamilton building for the purpose of makin)3 sewer connection. The matter was referred to the City T,hgineer,for.approval and fixing of bond. AIRPORT $60 CLEANUP: EXECUTIV SESSION: BARNES, GARY: Alderman Drake reported that he had secured 60 day options on certain lands adjoining the irport,and presented to the Council a plat showing the location of said lands; also the rice at which they could be secured;After some discussion of the matter; the City attorney as directed to investigate the manner of submitting a proposal for a bond issue for the pu >f buying these lands, and properly equiping the Airpovt. The committee in charge of the Clean-up work of the City requested a donation of $:60.00 from"the City,and the use of the City Truck in hauling rubbish to the City Dump. ©f3+�fttbtifr4fsl:-: derman Drake moved that an appropriation of $60.00 be made for the purpose of assisting in the work of Clean-up week,and that the Mayor be authorized to allow the use of the City Tru to help in the hauling. This motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the follow ing vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Svott, Stanford, Stephens; ,and was declared passed by the Mayor. Alderman Drake moved that the Council do now go into executive session 0" fc the purpose of electing a successor to James Dinwiddie as Inspector of FlectricalX work. is motion was duly seconded and passed,and so declared by the Mayor. e applications of Hugh E Barnes and E.Gary were presented. Alderman Bynum moved that the election be made by ballot. This motion was seconded by rman Drake and received the unanimous vote of the Council. The counting of the ballots showed that E.Gary received Five votesand Hugh E Barnes received three votes. Whereupon the Mayor declared Mr F. -ary elected to the office.of Electrical Inspector,in place of James Dinadiddie,resigned.
