SANITATION. The matter of public sanitation was discussed at Tenghh,and Alderman Pearson moved that
the Mayor and the Syreet Committee be authorized and requested to inspect several locations

for a public dump ground,and report th&ir findings to the Council. This motion was seconded
by Alderman Scott and duly passed.
THE ORDINANCE Committee was also requested to prepare an ordinance on the disposal of refuse of all
kinds,for report at the next meeting of the Council.
ARNOLD: A petition requesting authorization for the setting up of a Popcorn stand by will Arnold
and signed by about 100 persons was presented to the Council and received careful consideration
In as much as the matter•of locating street vendors of all kinds had been formerly delegated
to the. -Mayor and ehe Chief of P61ice,and made also dependent on the wishes of persons owning I
UP occupying adjacent property,the Council took no action in the matter.
BUILDING:, Two requests in reference to buildings were referred to the building Inspector.

DUMP The Mayor reported that the committee charged with the duty of inspecting and reporting on

the location of a 42mp gxued for city refuse,had decided to use a part of the land owned by
the city at the ((,,��,, �—e10��en,and were making preparations for its use by working the road
,leading from the highway. On motion by Alderman Drake,seconded by Alderman. Scott and duly
Ipassed,the report was approved,and Dave Lewis was employed to repair the road.
Cut Curb; Permission was granted to H.C.Palmer to out the ctrb at X517 East Maple for the purpose of
constructing a drive-in,the work to be done under the sulervision of the City Engineer.

iinstalling 3 I -beams in the Fire House,under the supervision of Engineer E.M.Ratliff.
Alderman Pearson moved that the bid of R.E.Wages be accepted. Alderman Drake seconded the moti
which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake. -Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott
Stanford, Stephens; nays none, and was declared passo4by the Mayor,
ILA AVE. A petition praying that Ila Avenue be graded was presented,whereupon Alderman Harding moved

that the Engineer be directed to make an estimate of the cost of the same,and submit it to
the Council. The motion was seconded by Llderman Drake and received the unanimous vote of the
Council.

Alderman Drake introduced an Ordinance providing for the disposal of garbage and other
refuse of the City,which was read the first time. Alderman Pearson.moved that the Rules be sus
vended and the ordinance palced on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alder man) Dr$
Drake and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson,
Scott, Stanford, Stephens; nays none,absent and not voting none, and was declared passed by the
Mayor. The Ordinance was read the second time.
The matter of grading a part of North Storer Avenue was discussed and,on motion, it was ordered
that slid grading be done by the Street Department ,assisted in the matter_oV establishment Iof b
the grade by the City Engineer.
On motion duly passed,the City Engineer was directed to establish the Rra.de for the alley
running North -south in Block 6, Original Town
No fuhther business appearing, the Council adjourned on motion.

In reply to Dr. A.M.Harding(s letter calling attention to the need for sidewalks on Douglas

the construction of sidewalks.
