REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE BITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS,HELD JANUARY
27th, 1930.
PRESENT, The Mayor T.S.Tribble, Clerk J.C.Massie, Attorney Don Trumbo, Engineer,E.M.Ratliff;
klderipen John Bynum, N.F.Drake, Don Fuller, C.T.Harding, Roy Scott, Dr.J.F.Stamford,S.S.
Absent, Alderman Clem Pearson.
THE MINUTES of the meeting of January 20th,1930 were read and approved.
THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City,properly approved,were allowed and ordered paid on motion by
derman Fuller,seconded by Alderman Drake, passed by the unanimous vote of the members pre
d so declared by the Mayor; -
Kelly Brothers Lumber Co., -0$0.90;F.V.Bird Construction Co.,$12.;
gnolia Petroleum Co., $34.145;J.W.Shelly $42.50;Ben Porter $18.75.
OTEST: A protest against the granting of a building permit,for which the Standard
ANDARD Oil Co. had applied to the Building Inspector,was presented and read to the Council.

It appearing that said protest had been filed within the time allowed therefor by the ordinance

governing the same,and the parties being present ,in person and/or by representing attorneys,
Ithe Mayor requested the attorney for the protectants to present his case. Mr Carl Greenhaw,
representing the protestants,presented tlP3tritdff several of the the protestants whoPEBE21FEBE

Pearson,representing the Standard Oil Co. also intooduced several parties who suppotted the
applicant for the permit. Both attorneys7hen addressed the Council with arguments pro and c
in the cause before the Council.
The Council,then,on motion duly passed,went into executive
....ion, After having granted the request of Alderman Bynum to be excused from voting in the
matter,because of his position as representative of one of the major oil Companies.
The matter having been thoroughly discussed by the Council,Alderman Drake
moved that the permit be granted.Alderman Scott seconded the motion which received the follo
vote; Ayes Aldexmen 1 ake, Fuller, Hardintg Jcott; ntys A ce�rmen Sanford and Stephens.

Mayor declared the motion passed.
The Fire Committee requested more time for investigation of the requested repairing of the
ch request was duly granted,on motion duly passed.
The Clerk reported the issuance of warrants as follows;

APPROVED: 13870; 112.84, Paving tax, It " " "

and requested approval of same,whereupon Alderman Harding moved said warrants be authorized
and their issuance approved. This motion was seconded by Alderman Scott and received the
following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Scott, Stanford, Stephens; Nays
none; absent and not voting Alderman Pearson, and was declared passed by the Mayor.
Vlater Billis; Alderman Bynum introduced a resolution providing for adjustment of wgter bil
for the months of January and February,because of loss of water through freezing of pipes.
