HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-12-09 Minutes462 Respectfully yours, Roy Nix, Alderman Pearson moved that Mr Roy Nix be -chosen as City Treasurer to serve as such till the next ensuing general election in the City of Fayetteville,to be held in April, 1930. Alderman Harding se onded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stephens;nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen Drake and Stanford.The Mayor declared the motion.passed and Roy Nix duly elected to be City Treasurer of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,till the next City election. The Mayor then administered the osth of office to Mr Roy Nix as such Treasurer. ALDERMAN DRAKE ENTERED at this time. CUT CURB, Permission was granted Mr Mithhell to cut the curb on Johnson Street for the purpose of consbructir, a driveway,under the supervision of the City Engineer and subject to the provi- sions of the City ordinances thereto pertaining. This action was had on motion by Alderman Pearson, duly seconded'and passed. I CURB PUMP Permission was granted to F,E.Brooks to instal a curb pump at his store on Mill Avenue, BROOKS: j subject to the approval of the City Engineer and subject to the provisions of the City ordinance thereto pertaining. This action was had on motion by Aldemman Scott, duly seconded and passed. SHELLY'S Report,showing 138 blocks cleaned during the week was ordered filed. i AIRPORT: Mr Henderson of the Ozark Flying School was present and addressed the Council,urging the i importance to the city of prompt action in carrying out certain needed improvements on the Filed. After full discussion of the matter,Alderman Pearson moved that a committee composed of the Mayor, the City Engineer and Alderman Drake be empowered to take the necessary steps i for effecting the improvements needed,that they be authorized to place an order for tile for !drainage,and to contract with Mr C.E.Pierce for dithhing and filling. Also to secure from the lauthorities of the School payment of the moneys due under the terms of their contract with ,the city. DICKSON The Engineer presented,a report as to the cost of widening Dickson Street from College Ave-' DRAINAGE• to Block, and from College to Willow. After an extended and exhaustive discussion of the matter,and the failure of several different motions to secure enough votes for passage,the matter was dropped . SHELLY'S report showing 147 blocks cleaned during the week was submitted and on motion was ordered fil GRADING On motion by Alderman Drake, seconded by Alderman Scott,passed by the unanimous vote of the I AT DRAKE'S FARM: Council and so declared by he Mayor the Street Department was authorized to use the street working equipment for the purpose of grading a fence row on the farm of N.F.Drake for the use of the Ozark Flying School,said School to pay the expense thus occasioned. Ord. The matter of regulating the distribution and use of natural gas in the city coming up for i Idiscussion,it was suggested that all proposed regulations be submitted to the Bureau of Insu- ranee for approval before adoption. SON AVE Mr Carnahan presented a request for re -locating the proposed bridge on Wilson Avenue. _After DGE: some discussion,it was informally agreed that said matter be left to the ,judgment of the City Engineer. RATES Alderman Pearson moved that the engineer be dirseted to correspond with the Insurance Burea with a view to ascertaining what action the City Authorities could take to secure lower rates for the City.
