HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-12-02 Minutes46® iARDING' iEPORT : )ICKSON PRESENT: THE r EREAS, _. _. said order of said Court,among other things, ordered and directed the entire indebted. said Improvement District to be refunded and ordered said Commissioners to issue a new series of bonds for the original amount of said indebtedness;said bonds.to cover a period of twenty years instead of ten years as originally iasued,and that said bonds be made due and payffi , in twenty annual installments instaed of ten annual installments;and said Board of Commissioners,acting.under the orders of the Washington County Court, d also acting independently of said.County Court Order,have petitioned the City Council, oresaid, to order the Board of Assessment..of. said -Improvement District, to re -assess the nefits within said Improvement District, to the end that said bond issue may cover a peri 20 years instaed of 10 years as originally provided; W,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVItLE,ARKANSAS: That the Board of Assessment of said above mentioned Improvement District be,and it is ereby ordered to re-assessthe benefits of said Improvement District in order that the said ssessed benefits shall provide for,and meet the expenses and payments of a bond issue of wenty ,years instaed of ten years as originally provided and issued, - - ' Roy A. Alderman Harding made a brief report as to improving Dickson street both in the R.:matter of drainage and traffic,and stated that he found among the property owners a who trong sentiment for widening the street from Block Street to Willow klfifewere willing to said improvement provided a reasonable amount of assistance is given by the City. Mr Harding moved that the City Engineer be directed to prepare an estimate of the probable of such work. This mobion was seconded by Alderman Bynum, and received the uanaimous the Countil. This motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the following votes ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens; nays none and was declared passed by the Mayor and the resolution adopted. Lewis„ an owner of real property in said District be,and he is hereby :appointed to be a member of.the Board of Improvement of West.Meadow Street Improvement District Number One of he City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,and that all resolutions in conflic herewith be and the same are hereby repaled. Attest; J.C.Massie, City Clerk/ At the request of Berry Vaughan,permission was granted to cut the curb on Olive Street for the '.purpose of installing a.driveway,subject.to supervision of the City Fngineer,and the ordinances thereto pertaining. ThisAction was had on motion by Alderman Scott, seconded by i Alderman Drake and passed b;= the unanimous vote of the council. The weekly repobt of the Street Cleaner, the Monthly reports of the City Collector, the City Clerk, Fire Chief, Purchasing Agent and the Poilce Judge were presented and on motion duly passed were ordered received and filed. The e� matter of extending Milson Avenue coming up for discussion, Alderman Pearson moved t�1dA the proposition of the City in said matter be clarified by restating the record of the action of the Council as recorded at page 413 hereof as follows, 'the City will do the nessai grading on said street and contribute $75.00 in cash toward the expense of builBing the bridge provided the citizens interested in opening said street will build the bridge across Skull Branch and construct the nessary approaches thereto Alderman Harding seconded the + motion which received the following vote;ayes Alder man Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pears Scott, Stanford, Stephens; nays none and was declared passed by the Mayor. The culvert across Town Branch on South Gregg Street being in a dangerous condition, it wash or*ered that Ben Porter be authorized and directed to procure the nessary timbers,at a cost of 01.00\per log,and with the lumber to be donated byLL L.Smelser,to repair said culvert. This action was had on Motion by.Alderman.Pearson,seconded.by Alderman Bynum and duly passed] It having been reported that the sVreet Cleaner had been compelled by reason ofl the annual fall of leaves on the streets,to employ additional help at an expense of $21.00, !Alderman Pearson moved that the Clerk be authorized.abd directed to issue a warrant for said' sum to J.W.She#ly. This motion was seconded by Alderman Fuller and received the following vote ayes; Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding,Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens,and was ;declared passed by the Mayor.
