REQUEST,I The request for permission to cut the curb at the -residence of Miss Amanda Stone CUT CURB:, for the purpose of constructing a driveway was granted subject to the supervision of the City engineer. UPTON'S The appeal and A.B.Upton for relief in the matter of drainlaying was taken up,and,the matter' APPEAL: Ii,having been refdrred to the City Etg6rney, that official reported that the ordinance under which Mr Upton made his aupeal,had been superseded by ordinances number 599 and 600,and that' i it was his opinion that Mr Upton had no ground for his appeal. The amtter was accordingly (dropped without formal action by the Council, LEVY IN Alderman Pearson introduced an ordinance providing for levying the assessment in Paving 'T -.D. 42 i 'District Number Forty-two of the City of Fayetteville,which was read tle first time, Alder- man Harding moved that the Rules be suspended and tre ordinance placed on its second reading) This motion was seconded by Alderman Scott and received the following vote;ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford,Stephens; nays none; absent and not voting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The Ordinance was read the second t1ime. Gentlemen;- , Your Board of itttprovomont Commissioners of Paving Improvement District Number Forty-three (43)of the City of Fayetteville. Arkansas, have em- ployed E.W. Ratliff to prepare plans and make estimate of cost of paving to be constructed within Paving Improvement District Number Forty-three (43),of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,and upon the streets as set out in the petition. Based upon the report made by our engineer,we have decided to build pavement 22 feet in width,including-grading and necessary underdrainage, upon G!atson ^venue and Scott Street,. all of the intersecting streets within the limits of ';:a.tson Avenue and Scott Street to be paved t;ventyfive feet in width,including necessary grading and underdrainage. The type of pavement to be concrete. The detailed specifications to be in agreement with the current standard practice for this class of construction and the requirements of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas. Ald-rman 'Scott introduced a resolution requesting favorable action by the Ark- ansas Senators and representatives in Congress on the pending bill providing for increase in the pensions of veterans of the Spanish-American 1.7ar,and moved its adoption. Alderman Harding seconded the motion to adopt which received hthe following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanfo.rd,Stephens;nays none. The Mayor declared the motion passed and the resolution adopted. A copy is as .follows; - ICA RESOLUTION. There is now pending, before the Senate and House of =representatives of the United States, Bill S 476 and H.R. 2562 to increase the pensions of Veterans of the Spanish-American War; and, This mea sure appeals to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,as only ,just and fair to those who offered their services as volunteers for a war service in time of need,and who are now past the peak of life,and whose earning power is decreasing; TIiEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED: That the Mayor and City Council of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,approve the proposed increase,and request the representatives of Arkansas in the Senate and in the }louse of �Lepresentatives of the United States to do all possible to further the passage of this legislation; And Be It Further ReslIved, That a certified copy hereof be forwarded to the Senators from Arkansas in the United Syates Senate and to the Hon Claud Fuller,the representative from this Congressional District. signed. Alderman Drake moved that the Ieiayor be authorized to continue negitiations with Mr Franke,and to offer $6.300.00 for a ten -foot right of way,properly conveyed to the city of Fayetteville.
