'THE READING of the Minutes of the previous meeting was deferred till the next regular meeting. jTHE PURPOSE of the meeting was stated by the Mayor to be the consideration of sewerage disposal North i i and South of the City. McILROY: Mr. J.H. McIlroy, President of the Sewer Board,at the regAest of the M,ayor,gave a statement of the plans of the Board, and the extent of their operations. As to the disposal of Sewerage of the North side,an iron main has been laid from the old septic tank,and twin pumps have been ordered to be used in -forcing the sewage into the mains leading to the dsiposal plant j near White River.This represents an expense of $4,000 or ;75,000,as compared -with $25,000 ori i $30,000 required to install an adequate disposal plant for the North side,not including the right of way.Also,that the present plant is fully adequate to care for all the sewage of the City.The Board plans also to install a secondary plant,when funds are available, for further treatment of sewage,but at present must depend on chlonination. DR HALE: Dr Hale addressed the council,setting forth some of the principles of sewerage i disposal,and mentioned also the effect of chlorination and its use as a temporary substitute for secondary treatment. Alderman Bynum and Alderman Harding took the position that an additional septic tank should be installed for the disposal of the sewerage on the North side of the City. THE MINUTES of the meetings of August 19th and 22nd, 1929 were read and approved. THE FOLLOPJING BILLS against the City,bearing the proper vouchers and the approval of the Auditing I Committee were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Drake,seconded by Alderman Bynum passed by the unanimous vote of! the Council and so declared by the Mayor.; J.W.Shelley 242.50;Ben Porter 09.40; Southwestern Bell Tel. ' STRE7.T The Clerk reported the filing of several applications for the position of Street Cleaner (CLFANING: but since it appeared that no such applications had been called for,and the present holder of the position has a contract for one year,no action was taken An the matter. I,WELLEY'S report,showing 193 blocks cleaned during the week,was presented,and on motion was filed. Cut Curb The request of H.E Jackson for permission to. cut the curb om Gunter Street for' HE JACKSON: the purpose of installing driveway,was granted,subject to supervision of the City Engineer.; FAST STR J.H. I,1cIlroy filed an appeal form the action of the Board of assessment of I.D. APPEALS: East Street Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas. In order that sufficient time for investigation might be had,the hearing of Mr McIlroy's appeal was continued to the next regular meeting,on motion duly passed. (ARMORY: Alderman Scott presented the matter of assisting in the furnishing of the Armory,and moved that the matter be referred to the Finance Committee.
