Ratliff; ' Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding,.Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens, I I THE MINUTES meetings of July lst and Euly 5th, 1929 were read and approved. TAE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City,bearing the proper.vouchers and the approval of the auditing Com- mittee were allowed and ordered paid and the. Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by'Alderman Fuller, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the.Mayor,-Democrat Publishin Co., $28.74;Central Auto Co. 0.50;Simpson-Mintun Co., $1.44;Fayetteville Machine Shop, Publishing Brothers Co., X4.00 and 10.40; Thomas & Son $1.30;L.&.G. Tire & Service Co., $15.33;Anderson Stone Co., $}7.88; Ben Poster $18.75;Elmer Wier $15.00, and S7.00;Magnolia.Petroleum Coos x6.3.3; J.W. Shelley $42.50. i REPORTS: The reports of the Purchasing Agent, City Collector Fire Chief, City C1erk,Po� e i (Judge and the Street Cleaner were presented and on motion were received and filed. PAY C.E. The following cheeks,being donations for the purpose of paying for the pavinipart of PIERCE: %) PAVING Trenton Boulevard adjacent to and intersecting North College Avenue,were delivered to the ' TRENT BLVD. 'City Clerk with instructions to deliver same to C.E. Pierce, the contractor; -viz; DONATIONS)IN.F. Drake on F*#*§'� Arkansas National Bank, $100.00;A,L, Trent, on Ark. Nat. Bank, $100.0001 Ark. Nat Bank, improvement District Number 3$700.00; Oliver Lollar Ark .Nat. Bank, X4$35.00; Earle Bates Citizens Bank X32.50; H.L. Tuck First Nat, Bank 32.500- Total ,$1,000.00,together with a i City of Fayetteville warrant in the sum of $165.00 authorized by action of the City Council as shown in this Record.at page 410, amkmmaking a grand total of $1,165.00 in full payment for said paving. The above action was had on motion by Alderman Harding,seconded by l Alderman Drake,passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor. 3 ACRES The City Clerk called attention to the.fact that a tract of land containing 3 acres I IN11/16/30 lying in the NE corner of Section 11, Tp 16 N. R. 30 West was deeded to the City by J.D.Walker lin 1896,and seemed to still belong to the City,whereupon *I-dorman* it was ordered that the matter be referred to the City Atborney for investigation and report. FOURTH The City Engineer reported.that the proposed change in the location of Fourth Street STRL & MILL AVE. seemed to offer no advantage to the City; -.also that the improvement of the intersection of Mi Avenue and Huntsville Road was not imperitavely needed at the present time. No action was had in these matters, ASSESSMENT The Assessment Roll in Alley Improvement District Number 40 of the City of Fayetteville # 40 Arkansas was filed with the Clerk, whereupon Alderman Drake introduced a resolution directing I i 13�Ig2�1 NOTICE: the City Clerk to publish notice of,such filing, and moved its adoption. Ald"rman Stanford seconded the motion to adopt which received the following votes ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford,Stephens; nays none; absent and not voting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed and.the resolution adopted. A copy is as follows; R E S 0 L U T 1 0 N. WHEREAS ; W.L. Crouch, U.L Smelser and C.F. Armistead, as the Boxrd o f Assessment of Alley Improvement District Number Forty (40) of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, did, on the 8th day of July, 1929,deposit with the City Clerk of said City the Assessment Roll of said Alley Improvement District Number Forty (40) of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, duly subscribed by each of them; NOW$ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE: That the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas be, and he is hereby, 1 required to cause to be published in the Fayetteville Democrat,a daily newspaper published in said City,a notice stating that said assessment roll has been so filed by said Board of Assessment,and that the same is now subject to inspection. SECTION TWO* That all resolutions or orders in conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed,and this resolution shill be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval. IGHTS On motion the City Attorney was directed to investigate and.report.as to the law in R CROSS - NGS: reference to lights at Railway and a treet crossings;also to confer with the County Judge wit regard to a flood light on the Court House Clock AUDIT: On motion by Alderman Drake,. seconded by Alderman Bynum and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council,the Mayor was.author.ized to employ a Certified Accountant to make an audit of the City Books,at an expense of not to exceed $125.00. This otion was seconded by Alderman -Drake ,was passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and declared by the Mayor; a copy is as follows;- Fayetteville,Ar4ansas 7/15/'29. J.C. This is to certify that the pavement in the.intersections of streets and alleys in rb & Gutter Distr.38 and Paving Distr 39 has been fully completed according to the plans d specifications;and I hereby certify that payment in full is now due C.E. Pierce in cordance with Ordinance #700,recorded on page 385 -Record C of Fayetteville, Arkansas. E.M. Ratliff,City Engr. The time having arrived for the hearing of the petition asking for the formation of an Improvement District for the purpose of paving a portion of South School Avenue,in order determine whether or not said petition was signed by the majority in assessed valuation o; it real property within the territory embraced in the proposed District,said hearing was accordingly had. After a thonough investigation, and.after all parties desiring to be heard had been so heard,an ordinance was introduced by Alderman Harding setting forth the finding hf the Council and naming the District and appointing the BoaVd o .Improvement for said Dis- triet,which was read the first time. Alderman Scott moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Fuller and re- Iceived the following vote; ayes Alderman Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens; nays none; absent and not voting none.
