REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY CDUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS,HELD JUNE
17th, 1929.
PRESENT: The Mayor T.S. Tribble, Clerk J.C. Massie,.Attormey Don, Trumbo, Engineer E.M. Ratliff;
Aldermen Bynum, Drake,Fuller,..Harding,Pearson, Scott, Stanford;Absent Alderman Stephens.
THE MINUTES of the meeting of June 10th, 1929 were read and approved.

THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the city,bearing.the proper vouchers and.the.approval of the Aufiting Com=
mittee were allowed and ordered.paid on motion by Alderman Harding seconded by Alderman
Bynum, passed by the unanimous vote of .the.members present and so dedlared by the Mayor; -
Dave Lewis $12.50;Elmer flier $12.50; Bfi(en Porter $12.50;J.W. Shelley 042.50; Southwestern
Bell Tel. Co.,$31.85;Kelly Brothers Lumber Co.,$4.90.
SHELLEY'S report showing 162 blocks cleaned during week ending Junel5th,was received and ordered filed

REALTOR Ordinance; the committee in charge requestwd more time,which was granted.
HEARING The time having arrived for the hearing of the petition to form an Improvement District
#42;
(number 42) for the purpose of paving a portion of South School Street,said hearing was open

and after some discussion,_llderman Harding gioved that the hearing be continued to the next

regular meeting of the Council because.of the absence of interested parties, and for want of
sufficient information.. Alderman.Pearson seconded the motion which received the following
vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none; i
absent and not voting Alderman Stephens. The Mayor declared the motion passed and the hear-
ing accordingly continued.
Alderman Harding moved that the City Clerk be directed to write the Railway Commission
for information as to the ratse charged for ice in dities of 10,000 and over.. Alderman
Bynum seoonded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the members present.
Mr Earl Bates was present to confer with the Council in regard to the accidental loca#4
cation of a portion of his building in -the city street. After some discussion Alderman Pear -
son moved that action in the matter.be deferred. This motion was duly 'seconded and passed.
WILSON STR. A petition asking for the extension.of Wilson Street (Avenue) to the North City Limits

and the construction of a bridge across Skull Branch was presented and after discussion of
the project by members of the Council and interested citizens,Alderman Lrake moved that the

sum of $75.00 be appropriated to aid in the construction of the street and that the street
' grading machinery be used in grading the same,provided the interested property owners will

build the required bridge and make the necessary fills,according to the plans of the City
Engineer. Alderman Harding seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes
Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none;'absent and nbt
voting Alderman Stephens, and was declared passed by the Mayor.
AVIATION Alderman Pearson introduced an ordinance to provide for the purchase of an Aviation
FIELD:
Field,which was read the first. time. Alderman Pearson then moved that the Rules be suspen-
ded and the ordinance placed on its second reading. Alderman Scott seconded the motion which
received the following votesayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott,
Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Stephens, and was declared passed by the
Mayor. The ordinance was read the second time. Akderman Scott then moved that the Rules be
further suspended and the ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage. This

Mayor then announced the question before the Council is shall the ordinance pass and called
for the vote on its passage which resulted.as follows; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller,
Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Stephens. The it
Mayor declared the Ordinance passed. A copy is as follwose.

AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $1,500.00 TO BE USED IN THE PURCHASE OF AN AVIATION FIELD,.
AND AUTHORIZING'THE MAYOR AND CITY-CLERK.TO.ISSUE,A .WARRANT FOR'SAID AMOUNT TO THE SOUTH
MOUNTAIN DEVELOPMENT'COMPANY:
DR. N.F. DRAKE has donated to the city of Fayetteville, 'Arkansas the.sum of $3,500.00 to be
used for the purchase of an aviation.Field,on condition that the.said City shall pay the sum
of $1,500.00 for the same purpose,and
The present and future welfare of said city will be.highly promoted by said purchase,
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS:
ION ONE:
That
there'is hereby
appropriated.out,of
the General Fund of the City
of Fayetteville,
the sum of $li500.00 to be used in part payment.for that part of.the tract of land known as
the Golf Course lying West of Highway Number.71.as the same is now located.
ION TWO:
That the Mayor and the City Clerk of said city be, and they are hereby authorized and direct
to issue a warrant,drawn on the General Fund -of said City in the..sum of $1,500.06,payable to
the South Mountain Development Company,and to deliver said warrant to.said Company or its
official representative upon delivery to the Mayor of a deed conveying to the city of Fay-
etteville, Arkansas a merchatable title to said land..
TION THREE:
That this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage,approval and
publication,and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in.conflict herewith be, and the same
are hereby repealed. ,

Alderman Drake then moved that the City Attorney be directed to prepare the necessary
papers for the condemnation of land.for an.alley.East-West through Block Number Mwentynine.
This motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and.received the unanimous vote of the mambers
present, and was declared passed by the Mayor.'
Adjournment was then had on motion by Alderman Harding, duly seconded and
passed.
