same on motion by Alderman Filler, se onded by Alderman Drake, passed by the unanimous vote f

led, and on motion dyly passed was referred to the Finance Committee.

A petition protesting against the location of storage Gas Tanks on Lot 7
SE SW 9/16/30 was presented .After some discussion, Alderman Pearson moved that further
consideration of the matter be deferred for the purpose of securing additional infoemation.
Alderman Drake seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council and was
declared passed by the Mayor.
The matter of having the books of the City a4d of the Water Plant audited was discussed at g6
some length,by members of the Council an4epresentatives of the Nater Board,but fiaal decisl
sign of the matter was deferred, on motion by _4lderman Pearson seconded by Alderman Fuller ,
an,iI,duly passed. •
The proposed contract with John Zillah for grading a portion of Manle Stre
was raad to the Council,and on motion by Alderman Drake,seconded by Alderman Harding and dul
passed, the Mayor was authorized to sign same when and if the property owners contracted wit
Mr Zillah to do their part of the work.
UIr E.W. Lucas and Dr Baerg appeared before the Council,protesting against the order to
build sidewalks along the North side of Maple. but no action was taken in the matter.
Mr C.O. Moore presented his bond,with the Maryland Casualty Co. as Surety
in the sum of $10,000.00,under the provisions of Section 10 of Ordiaanee Number 703;
Alderman Harding moved that said Bond be accepted.Alderman Bynum seconded the motion which
received the following vote;ayes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Harding,Pearson, Scott, Stanford,
Stephens;nays none; present and not voting Alderman Drake. The Mayor declared the motion
passed and the bond accepted.
Also; C.O. Moore presented.a bond in the sum of $1,000.00,with the same Surety,
Two
and under the conditions set forth in Section of Ordiaance Number 703 ,conditioned on the
repair of injury to streets and other improvements. Alderman Harding moved that said bond
accepted. Alderman Pearson seconded the motion which received the following vote;ayes Alder
menBynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens; nays none. The Mayor
declared the motion passed and the bond accepted.
Also; C.O. Moore presented a bond with the sane surety in the sum of ;1,000.00
under the provisions of Section Two of Ordinance Number 703 for the ma.intainance of repairs
made by him on the Streets. Alderman Fuller moved that said bond be acepted. Alderm an Byrium

The injury done to the pavement on South School StrFet ry the passage of road working
machinery over the same was reported -to the Council by the Mayor. After some discussion,
Alderman Drake moved that the City Engineer be directed to take the matter up with Mr Barry,
local engineer for the State,Highway Department,and endeavor to reach an adjustment of the
damage and report bb the Council.
The matter of controlling, the drainage on Volest Street -near Dickson by means of a culvert t
,be constructed on the Right-of-way of the St.Louis-SanFransisco Railway in cooperation -lith
said Company,was,after consideration by the Council,referred to the City Engineer,with Power
tp. Ac.t,within a cost limit of $50.00 to the City. This action was had on motion by Alderman
Harding, secconded by Alderman Drake and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council.
An agent of the Company preparing a City Directory of Fayetteville, was present, and asked
the Council to purchase for the use of City officials,copies of he same. On motiom by Alder]
man Scott, the Clerk was directed to sign an order for one copy at the price of $8.00. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Drake and received the unanimous vote of the Council, and wa
declared passed by the Mayor.
No further business appearing Alderman Scott moved adjournment.
This motion was duly passed.

sidewalk;
City during the surrmer,a delay to Oct. 15th, 1929 be granted for the building of the sidewalk

at his property on Maple,was pr sented. Alderman Drake moved that the request be granted,for'
providX.ed that the necessary grading be done at this time,
the reasons give Alderman Harding seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of,

the council and was declared passed by the Mayor.
REPORT OF J.41. Shelley presented his report showing 147 blocks of streets cleaned during the

week ending May 18th, 1929. Alderman Harding moved the Deport be received and filed which
]motion was duly passed.
GOCA ROMPS The Good -roads committee of the Chamber of Commerce was present and stated certain'
ICOM OF CC: a
projects for improveing approaches to the city,and tendered their assistance to the council
in furtherance thereof. After some discussion,it was given as the purpose and intention of the'
I
council to attempt the organiza tion of an improvement District on South School Street to work
in cooperation with the Highway Department in paving that street. The Committee from the
Chamber of Commerce was requested to undertake the formation of similar districts on Wall
Street and Government Avenue to perfect the conjunction with highway number 45.

DEPOSITO On motion by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Ald%rman Drake and duly•passed, the Mc-
I1Roy Banking and Trust Company was declared the successful bidder for designation as city4.,l
depository,at their bid of three (3%) percent on daily balances,and agreement to carry city
warrants at six (6/) percent.
