S:A request from the Industrial Finance Co for permission to remove a frame building
cIlroy tofrom its location on East Center Street to a place on East Dick son Street was presented

and on motion by Alderman Harding seconded by Alderman Drake, and passed by the unanimous
vote of the Council was granted subject to the supervision of the City Engineer, and the
filing of bond in the sum of $500,00 conditioned on indemnifying the City for any damage to
the streets.

The Clean-up co mmittee from the City Beautiful Organization was present and requested
that the Council make provision for the removal of refuse during Cleanup Week. After some
discussion the matter was referred to the Street Committee with power to act, but was
advised that in the opinion of the Council a small charge should be made on each person
from whose premises refuse was hauled.
The matter of gas franchises coming up for further discussion, Alderman Drake requestd

permission to withdraw the Ordinance providing for granting a gas franchise to C.O. Moore,
and moved that such permission be granted. Aldarrpan Scott seconded the motion which re-

ceived the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Hardinf, Pearson, Scott,
Stanford, Stephens; nays none, The Mayor declared the motion passed. The said ordinance was
accordingly so withdrawn.
A letter from Chas, J. Eddy, explaining that the application of the Arkansas Gas
service Co., had not been withdrawn, was read t1boo: to the Council.

Pearson, Scott, Stamford, Stephens; nays none. The Mayor declared the motion passed,

system, and for other purposes.2, which was read the first time. Alderman Harding then
moved that the Rules be suspended and -he ordinance placed on its se:-cond reading. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Fuller and received t're following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum,

Alderman Pearson then introduced°an ordinance granting to the Arkansas Gas service
Company, a Deleware Corporation, its successors and assigns, rpermission to erect, install,
construct, re-construct,repair, own, operate, maintain,menage and control a gas plant within
the incorporated limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and/or a gas distribution
system consisting of pipes, conduits and other fixtures in, under,over, alon g and across
the s•treets,lanes, avenues, sidewalks,,alleys, bridges and public grounds of said City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas,for the purpose of furnishing gas for lights, heat and power purposes
to said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,and to its inhabitants for a period of Twenty-five

years2 which was read the First time. Alderrpan Harding then moved that the Rules be suspended
and the ordinance placed on its second reading. Ald rman Pearson seconded the motion which '
received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Hardlnf, Pearson, Scott,
Stanford, Stepl}ens; nays none. The Mayor declared the motion passed The Ordinance was read
the second time.
Alderman Pearson then moved that the three hereinbefore mentioned ordinances be
referred to the Ordinance Committee, with the instruction that said Committee prepare such
ammendments to each of said ordinances as to them seem desireable; confer with the appli-
cants with reference thereto, and with the City Attorney, and report back to the Council at
a meeting to be called for the purpose of hearing said report. This motion was seconded by
Alderman Harding and received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Iv1ayoe decl ared the
motion passed.
Alderman Harding then moved that the Council adjourn, subject to call by the
Mayor, This motion was secohded by Alderman Fuller, and received the unanimous vote of the
Council, Th e Mayor declared the motion passed, and the Council so adjourned.

S of the meeting of April 15th, 1929 were read and approved.
f Dadra, for street cleaning for the previous week was presented and on motion
Alderman Drake, seconded by Alderman Bynum, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and
so declared by the Mayor,was allowed and ordered paid and the Clekk was directed to issue
a warrant for the same;(amount $36.00).
The matter of authorizing the Mayor to sign a contract with the St.Louis-SanFran-
sisco Railway Company for the location of a Fire Hydrant on the right of way of said
