On motion the same wa ordered received and filed. GRADING I Alderman Jones moved that an amount not to exceed $375.00 be appropriated for the purpo MAPLE STR.of grading Maple Street from Mock Avenue to Vandeuenter Avenue,and that the Street Committ be directed to take the neces^ary steps to secure bids for the work. This motion was'secon by Alderman Drake and'received the following vote;ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Hard Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stamford; nays none. and was declared passed by the Mayor. SIDEWALKS: Alderman Drake moved that the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to issue MAPLE: the necessary legal notices to the owners of real property abutting on Maple Street, on thl North side thereof, to construct sidewalks along said north side of Maple street from 14ee}c AvAvenke-to Wilson Avenue. Massie,' Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford. THE READING OF THE MINUTES of the meeting of March 25th, 1929 was deferred to the next regular meeti PURPOSE: The Mayor stated the purpose of the meeting was to provide for the consummation of the purchase of the old golf course for an aviation field. After a thouough discussion of the matter, and agreement as to the requirements to be made pertaining to the nature of the conveyance,reservation of gas and oil rights; and it being understood that the conveyance should be unqualified and in fee, simple, Alderman Drake introduced an ordinance providing PURCHASEIfor the acceptance of the deed and for the payment of the purchase price,which was read OF Ithe first time. Alderman Harding moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance be AIR- PORT: I placed,on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Jones and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller,_Har('ing Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanf nays none. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The ordinance was read the second time. (Aldermen Drake then moved that the Rules be further suspended and the ordinance placed on ;its third reading and final passage,which motion was seconded by Alderman Scott and receiv the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, and Stanford; nays none. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The Ordinance was read the third time. Massie, City Clerk. ts; The Mayor informed the Council that an informal request,and been made for the City to 'pay the delinquent assessments in North Leverett Avenue Improvement District, and asked that ithe Council consider the matter and take such action as to them seemed wise,just,equitable i !and legal. After some discussion Alderman Scott moved that it is the opinion of the Council I that the action suggested in said informal request is contrary to public policy,and the laws, of the State of Arkansas governing the expenditure of public funds. Alderman Pearson seconded I Ithe motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council. i No further business appearing the Council adjourned. Dis Final report; The Commissioners of East Center Street Improvement District Number One of �n Ithe City of Fayetteville,Arkansas presented their final report,SHOWING BALANCE CASH ON 0 hand $163.38, after the discharge of all debts and obligations of the District,and requested permission to appropriate said balance to the benefit of the Nurse's Home at the City Hospi and their discharge as such commissioners.
