REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE,ARAANSAS HELD MARCH
11th 1929.
PRESENT: The City C1erk,J.C, Massie, Attorney Don Trumbo, Engineer E.M. Ratliff;
' Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; absent Mayor Allan M.Wilson
and Alderman Fuller.
Alderman Pearson was chosen as president pro tempore of the Council for the meeting.
THE MINUTES of the meeting of February 25th, 1929 were read and approved,

warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Harding, seeodded by Alderman Scott, passed �y t
unanimous vote of the members present and so declared by the President pro tempore; Texas
Service Station $20,60;Lucas & Cosby 1$0,65; Washington Transfer Co. 1$2.10;Dave Condra $36.00
And $36.00;John Zillah 1$36.25; Henry Walker, $8.00;J.W.Shelley 1$8.75.
REPORTS:- The monthly reports of the City Clerk, Police Judge, City Collector and the Fire Chief were,
resented and on motion were ordered received and filed.

JONES' The request of J.A. Jones for permission to cut curb for construction of
DRIVEWAY
a private driveway at No. 118 East Spring was presented and on motion duly passed was granted
subject to supervision of City Engineer.
In the same motion was included permision for the
■ construction of a private driveway at the Episcopal rectory on East Lafayette. :
,TUCK'S H.L. Tuck requested permision to alter the sidewalk on Meadow Street at his Filling Station
DRIVE1VAY
(which was granted ,subject to the approval of the City Engineer.
EXECUTIVE At this time the Council went into Executive Session for the purpose of
(SESSION:
giving a confidential hearing to several representatives of companies desiring to secure
gas franchis in the City.

STREET There having arisen a disputt as to the location of the lines of North College Avenue,after

COL.AVE, some discussion, Alderman Pearson moved the matter be referred to the City Engineer for
investigation and report, This motion was second^d by Al&Arman Harding and duly passed.
l•The Clerk reported that he had filed with the County Court a claim for $591,51 due the
duecity
from 17. CoQ ity for delinquent taxes colledted on City property and turned into the County General Fund;

'stated that the County Judge had assured him the amount will be paid when taxes are 0011ft

IThe Report of the Purchasing Agent for the month of February,1929 was presented and on motion
was ordered received and filed.

P.IRPORT: Alderman presented a proposition looking to the purchase by the City of 78 acres of land
being the old golf course, for an Airport,by the terms of which the City will be able to ,
secure said land for the sum of $$5,000.00. After thorough discussion by members of the Council
.and the Mayor, Alderman Scott moved that the proposition as stated by Alderman Drake be
accepted. Alderman Pearson seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes
Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, nays none; absent and not voting �(
ldermen Fuller and Jones. The Mayor declared the motion passed.
,567.07 At the request of the Commissioners of Improvement Districts Number 38 and 39 for an

stricbs appropriation for the purpose of paying for the paving of the intersections in said District

Alderman Pearson moved that 9*o= that a net appropriation of N44,567.07 be made -for said

purpose,and that Attorney Atkinson, the attorney for the Districts be requested to prepare
the necessary contract for submission to the Council. This motion was duly seconded by Alder
man Drake and received the following vote, ayes Aldrmen Bynum, Drake, Harding, Pearson,
(Scott, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen Fuller and Jones. The Mayor de-
lared he motion passed,

lderman Harding then moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its
econd reading: Alderman Scott seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes
ldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jong@ rgOlatt, Stanford; nays none, absent end not
oting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The Ordinance was read the second time.
Alderman Jones then moved that the Rules be furthepL.suspended and the ordinanc
alced on its third reading and final passage. Alderman Harding'seconded'this motion which
ecei.ved the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, 06
cott, Stanford; nays none. absent and not voting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed

The Mayor then announced the question before the Council is shall the ordinance
pass, and called for the vote of its passage; which .resulted as follows; ayes Aldermen Bynum
Drake, Fuller, Harding Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; naye none; absent and not voting non
The Mayor declared the ordinance passed.

Curb and Gutter District Number 38 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has been
egally organized for the purpose of grading,rolling and the construction of curb and gutt
n certain streets,and Paving District Number 39 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas has
