Wilson 367 Alderman Pearson introduced a resolution setting the date fort hearing of the foaegoing petition and directing the Clerk to publish notice of same, and moved its adoption. Alderman Drake seconded the motion to adopt which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Bynum, The Mayor declared the motion passed and the resolution adopted. A copy is as followel;- � �� RESOLUTION. WHEREAS: On the 11th day of December 1928,there was filed with the City Council of the City of Fayetteville,. Arkansas,a Petition pur- porting to contain the signatures of the.majority in value of the owners of real property In situated within Alley Paving District Number 40 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE: That a hearing of said petition to determine whether those persons who have signed said petition do constitute such majority in value of said owners of real property within said Disler trict will be held by.said City Council in the Mayor's office in X said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas..on the 7th day of January, 1929 beginning at 7;30 P.M. of said day* SECTION TWO: That the City Clerk.of said City of Fayetteville, Arkan - sas be, and he is hereby,authorized and directed to cause to be pbulished a notice advising all owners of real property situated within said Alley Paving District Number 40 that said petition was so filed,requestink that *4d.the improvement contemplated by said District be undertaken and that the cost thereof be assessed and! charged against the real property in said District, and that on the 7th day of January, 1929 the said City Council will determine whether or not said petition is signed by a majority in value of the c�twtitlsa� o�<:•�tga}rpytopeat�sg� owners of real property, according to the i assedded valuation thereof. THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City, bearing the proper vouchers and the approval of the Auditing ,Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion by Alderman Scott, seconded by Alderman !Fuller,passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor; Allan M. !Wilson $3.61; Ed Malone $15.00; Dave Condra $36.00;J.I. I.D BUILDING PROTEST: DRAKE S FIRE - ESCAPE: Alderman Jones moved that the request be gran:<ed, and said Board of Assessment so authorized Alderman Harding seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, ftskkA`f Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott; nays none, Aldermen Drake and Stanford absent at this time and not voting. The Mayor declared the motion passed. Alderman Harding introduced a resolution appointing U.L. Smelser to be a member of the Board of Assessment of Douglas Street Improvement District NuIpber One of the City of Fay- etteville, Arkansas and moved its adoption. Alderman Fuller seconded the motion which recei ed the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Baerson Scott, 9t ; none; absent and not voting Aldermen Drake and Stanford. The Mayor declared the motion pas and the resolution adopted. A copy is as follows; RESOLUTION. WHEREAS: There is a vacancy in the membership of the Board of Assessment of Douglas Street Improvement District Number One of the City of Fay- etteville, Arkansas by reason of the removal from the City of J.W. Read, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILEE, ARKANSAS: That U.L. Smelser, a qualified elector of the city of Fayetteville, Arkk ansas, be, and he is hereby appointed to be a member of the Board of Assessment of Douglas Street Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, in place of J.W. Read, removed from the said City,and that this resolution be in force and effect froma and after its Passage and -approval, and that all resolutions in conflicjt ht herewith be, and the same are hereby,repealed. A communication protesting against the construction of a business house at the cor ner of Meadow and School was presented, and on motion duly passed,a formal hearing of the matter was set for December 31, 1928 at the regular meeting of the Council on said date. The matter of arranging in a satisfactory and equitable manner for the construction of r the necessary Fire -escapes for the new business building under construction at the corner College and Center coming up for discussion, the Mayor appointed, with the consent of the Council, a committee consisting of Aldermen Pearson, Jones and Scott to consult with the Building Inspector for the purpose of adjusting the matter.
