REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD NOVEMBER 19th,1928,
PRESENT:*The Mayor Al an M. Wilson, Clerk J.C. Massie, Attorney Don Trumbo, Engineer E.M. Ratliff;
Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford.

THE FOLLOWING BILLS against t e City, bearing the proper vouchers and the approval of the Auditing

FRANCHISE: Washington County, Arkansas.
Vie the undersigned legal voters of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,respect- j
fully order,by this oue petition,that Ordinance number 692,passed by the Council of the City
of Fayetteville, Arkansas on the 27th day of August, 1928,and entitled "An Ordinance granting'•
to John McCollough a franchise for the term of Fifty -Years to provide a system for the supply
of gas'to the -City of Fayetteville, Washington County; Arkansas,and the inhabitants of said
.!� City.",be referred to�the people of said municipality,to the end that the same may be approved
or rojected by the lagal voters of said municipality on the 21st day of January, 1929,and each
of us for himself says; I am a qualified elector of the State of Arkansas and entitled to vote

of the City Council, whereupon Alderman Harding moved that said petition be received and filed.
This motion was duly seconded and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake,
Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays Aldermen Fuller and Jones. The Mayor declared the
motion passed.

SIDEWALKS Martin Cox filed a request for an order for building a sidewalk on the North side of

E.F. Butler filed a request for an order for building a sidewalk on the West side of

St Charles Street a t the North 50 feet of Lot 1, Watson Place;
Roy Armstrong filed a request for an order for building a sidewalk at the intersection'
of School Street and 3rd; I {

On motion by Alderman Scott seconded by Alderman Fuller and passed Dyll
the unanimous vote of the Council,all of said requests were granted, and the Engineer was dirlec
ted to setablish the grade for each of said walks,
RESIGNATION The Mayor reported the resignation of Lem Guinn from the Police Force; and also gave

the following proposition from D.A. That the said Burson would buy at his own expense

PROPOSITION: for use in the Police service of the City, a speedy car if the City would furnish the

gas and oil required for said car; Burson further agreeing that the expense to the City for
said gas and oil should not exceed the returns from fines collected from persons arrested by
him as violators of the City's Traffic ordinances. After some discussion the matter was
referred to the Mayor and the Chiel of Police, with power to act. This action was had on

motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Jones, and passed by the unanimous vote of
the Council.

State official brought on a discussion of the question of the annexation of suburban terri-
tory. By tacit consent, the Mayor appointed as a Committee to investigate the matter and make!
report to the Council at as early a date as posible, Aldermen Drake, Harding and Stanford.
' No further business appearing, the Council adjourned.
