S of the meeting of September 24th 1928 were read and approved.
ING BILLS against the City, bearing the proper vouchers and the approval of the Auditing Ce
Iiiittee, were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the
same on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Scott, passed by the unanimous vc

Oc the City Clerk, City Collector, Fire Chief and the Police Judge were presented and on motion
duly passed were ordered received and filed.
The Annual reports of Commissioners of North Leverett Avenue; East Street and Annex Numb
and of Annex Number Two to East Street Improvement Districts were reported filed by the Cl
and wrereordered file.
The Iviayor presented a receipt from the C&ty Collector showing the return of $15.00 of the
$75.00 advanced to him for expenses to Little Rock.
The Mayor directed the Clerk to cancell the warrant issued to Allan Strain for his
Salary, because ]fie had not been in service during said month, and to re -issue the amount,
$50.00, in two warrants of $25.00 each, payable resoectively to Jess Walters and Will Poore
who had performed the duties of the said Allan Strain.
It being found that a turn -out from St. Charles Street in to Boles Street is badly needed,
on motion by Alderman Jones, seconded by Alderman Drake, and duly passed, it was ordered
that the City Engineer be authorized and directed to contract for the construction of the
same at a cost not to exceed %50.00.
The Mayor gave an informal report of the results of his trip to the Capital, and expressed
the opinion that much benefit would come to the cities of Arkansas in the matter of road
construction by reason of the action of the legislature at its special session, and because
plans which are developing.
The request of Mr S.S. McComas for permission to place a movable Pop -corn stand on the
corner of the Stane Lot, was presented to the Council and on motion, was referred to the M
with power to act.
Alderman Jones introduced a resolution levying the taxes for the ,year 1928, and moved its
adoption, Alderman Harding seconded the motion to adopt, which received the following vote;
ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, RR Fuller, Harding, Jones, Scott, Stanford, Pearson, nays none
The Mayor declared the motion passed and th-e resolution passed. A copy is as follows;

THE TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1928, UPON THE REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the rate of Taxes for CITY GENERAL purposes for the ,year 1928 be, and the same is
hereby declAred to be FIVE (5) MILLS on each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and
personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, as shown
by the assessment Books for State and County purposes, and that the same is hereby levied;
and the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to certify this levy to
the County Clerk of Washington County to the end that the same may be placed on the Tax Books
and collected with State and County Taxes,

PETITION: of Fayetteville, Arkansas was presented and on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by
Alderman Drake, passed by the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding,
Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting none, and so dellared by the
Mayor, was ordered received, filed and placed of record. A copy is as follows; -

Alderman Harding moved that the City Clerk be, and he is hereby authorized and directed
to publish a notice once a week for two weeks stating that a petition signed by persons
claiming to be a majority in value, of the owners of "real property within the
limits of Paving District Number Forty-one of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,was filed
with the City Council of said City on the 1st day of October, 1928,and that a hearing on sai
petition for the purpose of determining whether such persons do so constitute such majority
will be had on the 22nd day of October, 1928. Alderman Drake seconded the motion which recei
the following vote, ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stan
ford; nays none; abs nt and not voting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed.
