Alderman Harding then moved that the ordinance be referred to a special Committee to be
appointed by the Mayor. This motion was seconded by Alderman Drake and received the unanim
vote of the Council. The Mayor declared the motion passed.

THE MINUTES If the meeting of July 16th, 1928 were read and approved.
THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City bearing the proper vouchers and the approval of the Auditing
Committee, were allowed and ordered paid on motion by Alderman Scott, seconded by Alderman
Harding, passed by the unanimous vote of the members listed above as present, and so declared

GAS The Committee charged with the duty of investigating the proposition of C.A. Tooke and J.E.
FRANCHISE:
IRe .olds for a gas franchise reported by recommending delay in the consideration of said
1proposal. The committee was accordingly granted further time for consideration of he matter.

S. Clo. Board of Improvement of South College Avenue Improvement District Number One of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas, and of Annex Number One thereto, and moved its adoption. Alderman
Harding seconded the motion to adopt which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum,
Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman
+Joneis. The Mayor declared Ehe motion passed and the resolution adopted.

On motion by Alderman Pearson, seconded by Alderman Drake, the City Attorney was directed
to call attention of the commissioners of.North Leverett Avenue Improvement District to the
elinquent property owners in said District, and to take necessary steps for enforcing the I
ollection of such delinquencies.

A communication from the Moran Corporation my regard to gas franchise was read to the

Council and on motion was referred to the special gas committee.
The matter of filling the vacancies in certain Boards of Assessment for Improvement Distre
**t icts coming up for discussion, Alderman Drake.moved that the City Clerk be, and he is
hereby instructed to notify the Boards of Improvement of said Districts that such vacancies
I
exist,requesting said commissioners to nominate some one to fill said vacancy in each of said
,Boards of Assessment,and to inform said Commissioners that C.F. Armistead is available for
any or all of such vacancies."This motion was duly seconded by Alderman Bynum, and received
the unanimous vote of the members listed above as present, and was declared passed by the
Mayor.

W.C. Hight presented his resignation as a member of the Board of Assessment of Sewer
(Improvement District Number One of ::he City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;whereupon Alderman

Fuller moved that said resignation be accepted. Alderman Drake seconded the motion which

received the unanimous vote of the members present, and was declared passed'by the Mayor.
On motion, the Clerk was directed to obtain information as to gas rates in other cities.

property owners in Improvement Districts Number 38 end

S! 39 had filed appeals from the action of the Board of Assessment;whereupon Alderman Pearson

moved that in as much as the time for filing such appeals had not yet expired, and that others
might wish to so file, the hearing of said appeals be continued to the next regular meeting
of the Council, to be held :august 6th, 1928, Alderman Harding seconded the motion which re -1
ceived the following vote; a yes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott,

Stanford; nays none, absent and not voting Alderman Jones. The Mayor declared the motion
passed and the hearing so continued.Y
It being reported that the battery in Fire Engine Number 75 was down,AldermanHarding moved
that the Mayor and the Fire Committee be and they are hereby authorized to secure bids for
a new battery, and to purchase same. Alderman Bynum seconded the motion which received the
unanimouA vote of the members present. No further business appearing the Council adjb rned.
