Wilson, Clerk, J.C. Massie, Aldermen.Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; absent Alderman Jonese of the MINUTES of the previous meeting was deferred to the next regular meeting. Various maters pertaining to the proposed bond issue were discussed,following a partial report of the committee appointed to confer with Civic Organizations, and the committee was continued for the purpose of meeting with the Board of Governors of the Chamber of Commerce to complete its work. Massiel/Aldermen,Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding,Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford;absent none; >�, THE MINUTES of the meetings of May 21st and May 25th, 1928 were read and approved. THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City,properly ratified,were ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Fuller, seconded by Alderman Drake, pass- ed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor;-American-Railway"Ex-. press Co. $0.54;Washington Transfer Co. $3.63; Dave Condra $36.00. Ceal Dealers; A petition from a number of Fuel Dealers, asking that a license charge be established and protection afforded their business was presented, and on motion was referred to the Ord- inance Committee with instructions tore are an ordinance in accordance with the P p petition. This action was taken on motion by Alderman Jones, seconded by Alderman Harding and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council. i OAKLAND A request that the curb on the North side of Maple Street be out to afford passage therefrom AVE: into Oakland .Avenue was presented, and on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman 1 Fuller was referred to the City Engineer with power to act. AUDIT OF' The matter of an audit of the City books coming up, Alderman Drake moved that L.H. Kempton CITY j BOOKS*be employed to make suck audit, at the price of $75.00 for the job. This motion was duly_.- selonded by Alderman Ppaason and passed by the unanimous vote of the Coun&il. FIRE HOSE: The Fire Committee reported that they found the supply of 2Q inch hose in serviceable condition at the Fire House to be- 200 feet purchased in 1921 600 feet purchased in 1923 900 feet purchased in 1925 950 feet purchased in 1926 and 600 feet purchased in 1927. That the�uarantee ha expired on 850 feet thereof, leaving 2,450 feet on which the uarantee was stil in forceJ60hd of the latter, the�yuareatee would expire in June of this y ar. The committee recommended the purchase of WO 800 feet of 2J inch hose, and 200 feet of 1J inch hose. i On motion the report of the committee was received and approved. Ord. to purchase Hose; i Alderman Scott thereupon moved that the ordinance providing for authorization of the Board advertize of Public Affairs to @a$i for bids on Fire Hose , which was on its second reading, be amended a so that Section One shall specify 800 feet of 212 inch hose and 200 feet of 12 inch hose instead of 1000 feet of 21 inch hose. Alderman Harding seconded the motion which received the ',unanimous vote of the Council. 290 as an Pearson then moved that the ordinanc placed on.its third reading and fihal pass This motion was duly seconded by Alderman Drake and received_.the.following vote; ayes Alde Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding,.Jones,. Pearson, Sco.tt,.Stanford;..nays none and was declared passed by the Mayor. The.Ordinance,as amended,was read.the third time.. BE IT ORDAINED BY THECCITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARK- �IISAB: ION 1. That the Board of Public AffAArs be, and they are hereby authorized and directed o advertize for sealed bids for the purchase of Eight Hundred feet of two and one-half inch Fayetteville ire hose and 200 feet of inch and one half fire hose for th2eFire Department and to award a contract for the pirchase of the same at a total cost of not to exceed Fourteen Hundred D SECTION 2. That this ordinance be in force and effect from and after its passage, approval publication and all ordinances or.parts thereof in conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed. STREET I The Mayor called attention of the Council to the condition of.the Street Sweeper, and states SWEEPER: that the necessary repairs..to.the same would -cost about $75.00;.and that these repairs would SEWER ON EAST ROC, 'SECOND (PETITION II.D. #38 render it usable but for a short time. No action was taken in the matter. Mrcalled attention to the defective condition of the sewer main on East Rock pe Street and requested permission to dig under the pavement for the purpose of installing a line to tonnect the main with a private line. After some discussion, it was ordered that tter be referred to the City Engineer with power to act. This action was taken on motion Alderman Jones, seconded by Aldkrman Harding, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor, The Second petition for the formation of an Improvement District for the purpose of rolling and constructing curb and gutter upon certain specified streets in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and claiming to be signed by a majority in value of the owners of real property within said Distriet,to-wit, Curb and Gutter District Number Thirty-eight of City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,was filed with the Clerk in open meeting of the Council. Whereupon Alderman Scott moved that said Second Petition be received, filed and spread of record. This motion was seconded by Alderman Pearson and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none, absent and not voting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed. Alderman Jones seconded the motion,which received. following vote; ayes Alderman Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scmtt, Stanford nays none; absent and not voting none,..The.Mayor.declare d the motion passed and the resolu- tion adopted. A copy.is as follows; RESOLUTION: 11 WHEREAS: There is a vacancy in the membership of the Board of Assessment of West Spring Street Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, by reason of the resignation of J.F. Winchester therefrom; THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That U.L. Smelser, a qualified elector of the City of Fayette - villa, Arkansas,be and he is hereby appointed to be a member ,.of the Board of Assessment of West Spring.Street Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville.. Arkansas,in place of J.F. Winchester, resigned.
