Ratliff, THE MINUTES B the meeting of April 30, 1928 w ere read and approved. I THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City were allowed and ordered paid, and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Drake, second�� by Ald•-rman Harding, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor;Howard C. West for permistion to cut the sidewalk at 402 South School Avenue to WEST: prepare a driveway into his Filling Station was referred to the City Engineer with power to act. D.N.Keck Alderman nearson introduced a resolution appointing D.N. Smith, removed from the City, and moved its adop- ' tion. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed and the resolution adopted.' A copy is as follows; RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, There is a vacancy in the membership of the Board of Improvement of North Leverett - Avenue Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, by reason of the removal from the City of H.A. Smith, NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESDLVED BY Tai CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKAIISAS: SECTION ONE: That D.N. Keck be and he is hereby appointed to be a member of the Board of :Iprovement of North Leverett Avenue Improvement District Number One of the gy City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, in place of H.A. Smith, removed from the City. SECTION Tl110: That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage and approval. C.A. REPORTS: Reports for the month of April, 1928 were filed by the City Clerk, City P urchasing Agent, the Tire Chief and the Police Judge, which were ordered received and filed, by motion duly passed. Sidewalk Alderman Pearson introduced a resolution ordering sidewalk constructed along the South Resolution; side of Ida A:venue, and moved its adoption. Alderman Ida Ave.; Bynum seconded the motion which received the folowing vote;ayes Aldermen Bynum, Hake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, nays none and was declared passed by the Mayor, and the resolution adopted. WHEREAS, In order to provide for the welfare; safety, comfort and convenience of the inhabi- tants of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,residing on Ida Avenue and adjacent territory, it is necessary that a sidewalk be constructed along, the South side of Ida'Avenue from the intersection thereof with @egg Street westward to connect with the walk as now ennstructed. and existing along said South side of said Street,•- NOVI, THEREFORE, BENT RESOLVED BY TH CITY COUNCE OF THE CT3'Y OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKNSAS: That the City Clerk of the said City of Fayetteville,Aitkansasbe, and he is hereby directed to notify the owner of Lo$ One (1), Block Four (4), Gregg's Addition to the City of F ay- etteville,.Arkansas to construct a concrete sidewalk along the North side of said Lot One (1),'Block Four (4), in aid Gregg's Addition according to the plans and specifications as set forth in the Ordinances thereto pertaining, within 60 days of the date of the service of notice so to do, under penalties as provided by law and the ordinances thereto pertainin , and that this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval. THE MINUTES of the meeting of May 7th, 1928 were mad and approved; THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City, were allowed and ordered paid on motion by Alderman Fuller, seconded by Alderman Harding, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor;Snow Bird Coal Co. $5.50; Lewis Bros Co. $0.50, and $2.04; Wages Bros. Construc- tion Co. x^3.75 and 2.50;Democrat Publishing Co. $27.54; Ozark Filling Station $2.75; Ed Malone $1.25; JddJJhn Zillah $22.50; Nat. Air The Clerk reported the recdipt of notice from the National Airport Association of the port T *Association; acceptance of the application for membership therein of the City of Fayetteville,and payment of the membership fee of $10.00. r Watson's A petition from E.P. PlatsoWequesting the City to take steps for the protection of his Petition; lots on St Charles Street from drainage was presented to the Council. After due consideration the Council decided to deny the request on.the ground that the drainage in ,question was the natural drainage, for which the City was in no way responsible.This action was taken on motio by Alderman Drake, seconded by Alderman and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council. A.F.Collier The Mayor announced that he had appointed X.E. Uollier to be a member of the Board of 'member Public Affairs to succeed himself, and asked that the appointment be confirmed; which was Bd. Pub. Alderman Drake moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Pearson and received the I i following vote; ayes Aldrmen Bynum, Dr.ke, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Scott, Pearson, Stanford; nays none, and was declared passed by the Mayor. The ordinance was read.the secnd time. RECESS: A recess of 10 minutes was taken at this time in order that the NPO Fire Committee might i have time to consider the proposed ordinance. I When the Council was called to order by the Mayor, the Fire Committee requested further time for the consideration of the ordinance, which was accordingly granted.
