REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD
FEBRUARY 13th, 1928.
PRESENT: The Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Bynum,. Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford;
' absent none.
THE MINUTIFS of the mebting of February litho , 1928 were read and approved.
THE FOLLOWIMG BILLS against the City were allowed and ordered paid on motion by Alderman Harding,
seconded by Alderman Scott, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by
the Mayor; Esco Mfg. Co. $10.70;E.F. Norwood $1.25; Arco Company $60.00; J.H. Phipps Lbr. C
$38.92;nave Condra $36.00, Robert K. Phillips.$5.60;John.Zillah $31.25.
REPORT of the City Engineer, Re; Culvert over town branch on Third Street, giving an estimate of cost
of 20 foot bridge at $300.00 and 24 ft bridge at $360.00; Also that extension of South
Street from College Avenue to Hunbgville Road could be made 30 feet wide without moving any
buildings; also that more time was requested for abtaining bids on correction of grade at
intersection of Forrest and Lafayette, was presented,.and on motion was ordered received. an

DICKSON The Chairman of the Light Committee reported that he had ordered a light placed on Dick -

to pay the charges thereon. After discussion the Council confmrmed the order, but #4F}Eto#b0Q
directed that no further arrangements of the kind be made on similar terms, and that this
instance shall not be considered or treated as a precedent for future action.
REQUEST of J.W. Hall for permit to construct a gutter along his property on Prairie Avenue was
granted, the work to be done at the expense of the petioner.

HINFRY the approaches to the bridges on the road leading to Johnson was presented by the Mayor, a

after some discussion it was agreed that in view of the importance of this rand as an ap-
proach to the City, and the fact that the County authorities were unwilling to allow the
/// road working equipment of the County to be used by the commissioners of said District, the
project be regarded favorably; and that the Mayor and the Chairman of the Street Committee
/ be authorized to investigate the conditions under which the City's equipment would have to
be used, and , should these conditions be found not hazardous, to make a rental contract

CITY The City Attorney reported the present status of the City's claim for restoration of the

COUNTY: redeemed land taxes now held by the County, and requested instructions as to his future
course -in the matter, whereupon Ald rman Harding moved that the City Attorney be instructed
to take the necessary steps to'pbpo protect the interests of the City. This motion was sec
ended by Alderman Pearson and passed by the unanimous vote of. the Council.
