REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY.COUNCIL HELD
JANUARY 23rd, 1928.
The Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jonse, Pearson, Scott, Stanford;
absent none;
The MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF January 16th, 1928 were read and approved.
BILLS against the City, bearing the proper vouchers, and having the approval of the
Auditing Committee were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrant
for the same on motion made by Alderman Scott, seconded by Alderman Harding, passed by the u
imous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor;- tiV.A.Greggn5.00; Dave Condra 36;00
Cox's Market $2.45; Washington Transfer Co. $2.73;Claud H. Boyd $5.00; John Zillah $11.00.
Notice from the County Clerk to the effect that a plea of Limitation had been entered by
J.S. Combs, Prosecuting Attorney for the Fourth Judicial District of Arkansas, of which
Washington County forms a part, in the case of the City of Fayetteville,against said County
in the matter of delinquent tax payments on City.property, and that bbe hearing of said case
was set for the 8th of February, 1928, was read to the Council, whereupon Aldernan Harding
moved that record of such nobice be made and that the original notice be delivered to the
City Attorney. Alderman Pearson seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the
Council;- which was accordingly done.
The matter of repairing the pavement in West Spring Street Improvement District was presente
to the Council by members of the Board of Improvement of said District, and City assistance
in caring for the drainage was requested. This matter was referred to the Finance Committee
for report.
On motion by Alderman Drake, seconded by Alderman Jones and passed by the unanimous vote
of the Council, an Executive Session of the Council was ordered. During said Session, the
following Aldermen were appointed as a Special Committee to investigate and report fully
upon the matter under discussion; viz; Aldermen Scott, Drake and Jones.
The Light Committee made a tentative report, and each Alderman was requested to investigate
within his Ward and report as to the location of additional lights. The determination of the
said location was deferred to a meeting to be held on Wednesday, January,25th, 1928, at 7030
PM, to which time the Council adjourned, on motion,
