PRESENT: The Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; the Council, was absent, none. THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Drake, seconded by Alderman Scott, passed by the j unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor; Southwest Power Co. $1,001.50 to membership on toe (in two bills, Nov. and Dec. 1927);W.H. Rollins, $1.00;Southwestern Bell Tel. Co. $20.49; Fayetteville, Printing Co. (3 bills) $15.509Democrat Printing Co, $7.509E.M. Ratliff $10.00; I City Transfer Co. $5.30, and $8.18;Kelly Brothers Lumber Co. $14.40;Dave Condra $36.00; I Arkansas Road Equipment Co. $49.179 Grant McElyea, $3.58. ANNUAL ,r (REPORT, The annual report of the City health officer was prepented and•'read to the Council, and on HEALTH: motion was ordered received and filed. j • A communication from the Board of Health recommending the passage of an ordinance providing for vaccination of dogs for Rabies was received. CITY TO Alderman Harding moved that in as much as it is sometimes necessary for the Health Officer PAY FOR ' VACCINE to vaccinate certain persons for small pox free of charge, the said Health Officer be and he VIRUS SMALL PDX: is hereby authorized to purchase the necessary vaccine virus at the expense of the City. n Alderman Drake seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Coucil , PFO GULLEY The resignation of F.O. WHEREAS, there is a vacancy in the membership of the Board of Improvement of Mont Nord Improvement District Number One of the city of Fayetteville, Arkansas by reason of the resignation of F.O. Gulley therefrom, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That, E.A. Cowan, a qualified citizen of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,be and he is hereby appointed to be a mamber of the Board of Improvement of Mont Nord-Improvvment Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, in place of F.O. Gulley, resigned. N.F. Drake. Passed and approved this 9th day of January, 1928. Approved; Attest; Allan M. Nilson, J.C. Massie, Clerk. Mayor, Q 16 Alderman Drake then introduced a resolution appointing =V -to be a member of the � I Board of Assessment of Mont Nord Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayette- ville, Arkansas, and moved its adoption. Alderman Harding seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, SEearson, Scott, Stanford, nays none. WHEREAS, there is a vacancy in the.membership..of the Board of Assessment of Mont Nord Improvement.Distr.ict.Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Therevore be.it resolved by the City.Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas; That, J.B. McConnell eiamea.4eae, a.qualified.citizen of the City of Fayettevillle, Arkansas be, and he is hereby appointed to be a member of the Board of FAtpV0V6M4A0 Assessment.of Mont Nord Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Scott moved that the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to prevent commercial Trucks from parking on the Public Square if the.City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and to issue the necessary police orders to make this motion effective. Alderman Harding seconded the moyion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford; nays none. The Mayor declared the motion passed. Alderman.Harding, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Lights, reported the results of his interviews with the officials of the Southwest Power Company to the effect that for a month, ly payment of $519.50 by the City, the Southwest Power Company will maintain the present lighting system of the City with 5 additional white -way lights on College Avenue, and in ad( tion will instal 25 60 -candle-power lights at such points as may be indicated by the City, said 25 lights to be operated 12 months free of charge. Whereupon'Alderman Pearson moved that the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas agrees to pay said sum of $519.50 per month for the maintainance of the present syetem of lights with the five white -way lights on College Avenue added thereto , less any outage that may occur from time to time, provided that the additional 25 60 -candle-power lights be installed at an early.date, and operated for a per, of 12 months thereafter free of cost to the City; and that two of the old white -way light by the said Southwest power Company poles be placed conveniently, near the City Hospitall/End that lights thereon shall be con- nected with the light wires of the Hospital. Alderman Stanford seconded the motion which Deceived the following vote, ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Fuller, Harding, Jones, Pearson, Scott, Stanford* nays none and was declared passed by the Mayor. Alderman Drake, chairman of the Finance Committee reported the Budget for the year 1928, which was informally discussed at length; After some minor ammendments, Alderman Drake moved the Budget as ammended be adopted for the year 1928, effective from and after Jan- uary 1st, 1928.
