HomeMy WebLinkAbout1927-11-14 MinutesPRESENT: TEH PURPOSE; SP 239 CALLED MEsTING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD NOVEMBER 10th, 1927. to Call by the Mayor, the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas met in the Council Chamber on the 10th day of November, 1927 at 7;30 P.M., thereof; - The Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Handing, Dbake, Bynum, Scott, Buller, Pearson, Stanford; absent Alderman Jones. of the minutes was deferred to the next regular meetin. The Mayor stated the purpose of the meeting to be the consideration of the matter of making a reduction in the water rates of the City hater Plant, the supplementing of the depleted revenues of the City by appropriating a portion of the said revenues;and confering with the Board of Managers of the said Plant with reference to said matters. In addition to the Iriayor and the various members of the Council, remarks were made by members of the Board of )Water Managers, The City Engineer, and the City Collector.and the City Attorney. After a thorough discussion , Alderman Pearson moved that the Board of Managers of the 10 % City '.'later Plant of the City of F�•etteville, Arkansas be and they are hereby authorized Discount) 1 d on and directed to allow a discount n all water bills, provided the same are paid on or befor Water Bills; the 10th day of each month; and that this order shall become effective January lst, 1928. Alderman Stanford movdd* seconded the motion which received he following vote; ayes Alderme Harding, Drake, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Jones. The Mayor declared the motion passed. i C OM1 i ITTE ON PLAN TO Alderman Pearson then moved that the Mayor appoint a committee to be charged with the du' APPROPRI6 I ATE PART I of devising a plan whereby $250.00 shall be transferred, monthly -from the funds of the OF PLATER FUNDS: (City Water Plant to the General Fund of the City of Fayetteville. This motion was seconded by Alderman Stanford and received the following vote Ayes Aldermen Drake, Bynum, Scott, i Fuller, Stanford Pearson; Nayes Alderman Harding; absent and not voting Alderman Jones. The Mayor declared the motion passed. i The Mayor appointed as such committee Aldermen Pearson and Stanford to work in conjunc- tion with himself as Chairman. I SNCELLED The Finance Committee was directed to check all cancelled and paid warrants of the City and ,l vRRANTS: recommend what disposition shall be made thereof, at its earliest convenience. 240 The report of the Mayor showing the amount of work done by the Tractor and Grader gang was presented and on motion was ordered received and filed. WATE{. A resolution directing the City Collector to place to the credit of the City General Fund the ' FUND: sum of „250.00 monthly, said amount to be taken from the funds of the City Water Plant, was introduced by Alderman Pearson, who moved its adoption. This motion was seconded by Alderman Stanford. After a discussion of the matter, the resolution was withdrawn until such time asl more definite information shall be placed before the Council. BT OF Alderman Pearson moved.,that the Chairman of the Finance Committee investigate the matter TER PALNT CITY:) of the indebtedness of the Water plant to the City, with special aeference to the payment o City warrants issued for the financing of the Clear Creek extension of said Water Plant, an ascertain as fully as posible the exact amount of said debt;•and repobt to the Council at its next regular meeting. Alderman Scott seconded the motion which received the following vote; Ayes Alderm=.n Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; Nays Alderman Harding; Present and not voting Alderman Drake, absent and not voting Alderman Bynum. The Mayor declared the motion passed. J THOIaIPSON On motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by A lderman Pearson, and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council, it was ordered that the City Pngineer establish the location of Thomp- son Street.
