PRESENT: The Clerk; Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; absent thelMayor. On motion Alderman Harding was chosen President pro tempore. ITHE MINUTES of the meeting of October 24th, 1927 were read and approved; ITHE FOLLOWING BILLS AGAINST the City, bearing the proper vouchers and the approval of the Auditing Committee were allowed and orddeed paid on motion by, Alderman arice ng, seconded by Alderman Scott, passed by the unanimous. vote of the Council, and so declared by the President pro tempore; Dave Condra $36.00;Jim Mibchell $15.00; City Transfer Co. ;2.54, and $1.43; John Zillah I76.25;Allan M.Wilson, 010.00;Southwest Power Co. $500.75; WARRANTS On lotion by Alderman Jones, seconded by Ald rman Drake, passed by the unanimous vote of th CANCELLE : j members of the Council, it was ordered that Warrants numbered 11637,,11638,11639 and 11640, which had been surrendered by the First National Bank of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and which were to be cancelled by authority of Ordinance number 672, should be so cancelled and destroyed, which was accordingly done, said warrants being burned by the President pro tem- pore in the rresence of the Council. REPORT of the City Collector for the month of October, 1927 was presented and on motion was ordered received and filed. I THE MAYOR entered at this time. RESIGNA- The written resignation of Mr J.S Bates as member of the Board of Improvement of Universi- TION OF J.S.BATES: ty improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas was presented,.and it appearing that the said J S. Bates was inelligible to hold said position by reason of his removal from the District, Alder man Jones moved that his resignation be accepted. Thi motion was seconded by Alderman Fuller and received the following vote; ayes A1dprmen Hard- ing', Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson , Stanford; nays none and was declared i passed by the Mayor. W.N.GLADSON APPOINTED Alderman Harding then introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. Alderman COM'R, UNI. i I.D. Joni es seconded the motion which received tre follo ing vote; ayes Aldermen Harding Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearsom, Stabford; nays none; absent and not voting none. The i Mayor declared the motion passe^ and the resolution adopted. A copy is as follows;- y, R' SOLUTION WHEREAS, there I& a vacancy in the mambership of the Board of Improvement of University Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Ark- f ! ansas, by reason of the resignation of J.S. Bates therefrom; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS: i Tha W.N. Gladson,a qualified elector of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and a property owner in said District, be, and he is hereby appointed to be a mamber of the Board of Improvement of University Improvement District Number One of i the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, in place of J.S. Bates, resigned; and that I this resolution be in force and effect from and after its passage and approval, I / and that all resolutions in confli6 herewtth be, and the same are hereby i repealed. Massie, Clerk. 1 1 237 Alderman Jones introduced. an ordinance to prohibit parking on the ?outh side of L,aple Street between rhitham and Oakland Avenue which was read the first time. Alderman Harding moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance pla.cedon its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Stanford +nd received the followimg vote; ayes Aldermen Harding,Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none, absent and not voting none, and The Ordinance was read the second time. was declared passed by the Mayor./Alderman Pearson then moved that the Rules be further sus- pended and the ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage. Alderman Drake second- ed this motion ehich received the following vote; ayes aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jonesl Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not v6ting none. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The Ordinance was read the third time The Mayor then announced the quest' before (:he Council is shall the ordinance passq, and called for the vote on its Passage which resulted as follows- ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pears©I, Mayor nays -none; ab sent and not voting none. The ayor declared the ordinance passed. ORD. 6731A dopy is as follows;- PROHID- I ORDINNNCE NUMBER 673. TS PARKING - SOUTH AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF MAPLE SIDE OF STREET, BETINEEN 14giITHAM STREET ON THE EAST AND OAKLAND AVENUE ON THE APLE I WEST BE IT ORDAINED BY EHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF.FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE: It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person or persons to park or cause to be parked, any vehicle of whatsoever kind upon the South side of Maple Street, between Whitham Street on the East and Oakland Avenue on the West. SECTION TWO: Any person or persons.violating the provisions of thds ordinance shall be deeme j guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof in the police court shall he fined in T any sum not less than Two Dollars nor more than Twenty-five Dollars for each offense. SECTION THREE: That this ordinance be in force and effect from and after November 10th,1927, land its passage, approval and publication, and all ordinances,or parts thereof in conflict herewith be, and the same are he eby repealed. BRIDGE ON AST, i On motion by Alderman Scott, the matter of constructing a bridge over the branch on East ROCK! Rock Street was referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report. On motion by .Alderman Scott the matter of grading Huntsville Road from the end of the HUNT�ISVILLI pavement in District Number Thirty -me to the City Limits was referred to the Street Com - ROAD mitte with power to act.. -This -action was taken following a,proposal by V1.N. Yates and others to gravel the said Street provided the City would do the grading. On motion by Alderman Harding, it was ordered that a committee be appointed to make an investigation for the purpose of finding a suitable answer to the question "Where do we go r from here", The Mayor appointed as such committee Aldermen Harding, Fuller and Pearson.
