ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY CUNCIL HELD
SETTEMBER, 30th, 1927.
The Mayor, Clerk, Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanf&rd;
absent none.
reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was deferred to the next regular meeting.
The Light Committee presented the following report;-
"We, your Committee beg leave to report; -
1st
That all White way lights except those on the Square be reduced to 100 C Power.
2nd
That all White Way lights West of the Depot be turned out at 12 P.M.
3rd
Tahe all money saved be used in lightinIg the outlying parts of the City.

No action was taken on this report; and after some informal discussion Alderman Drake moved
that all all night lights be reduced from 250 C.P. th 100 C.P., effective
ON November lst, 1927; and that the November light bill and all subsequent light bills be paid
on this basis; 3tldoman and that the City Clerk be directed to so notify the Southwest Powe
Company, through.its Vice President of the passage of thdi motion. Alderman Bynum seconded
the motion which received the following vote; ayes Ald rmen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones,
Scott,
Fuller,
Pearson, Stanford;
nays none and was declaved
passed by
the Mayor.
The
Clerk was also directed to
request the presence of Mr
Skow, Vice
President of the
Southwest Power Company at a meeting of the Council, and to ask for a copy of the list of
City Lights in Fayetteville, and a copy of the map showing the location of the same.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned.

S of the meetings of September 26th, and 30th, 1927 were read; and approved.
ING BILLS against the City, bearing the proper vouchers, and the approval of the Auditing
Committee, were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the
same on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Pearson, passed by the unanimous

Reports of the City Collector, Police Judge, City Clerk, Fire Chief and the Purchasing
Agent were presented and on motion were ordered received and filed.
Paving
S: The assessments of benefits in Improvement District Number 36 and Curb & Gutter District
Number 37 were filed with the City Clerk, whereupon Alderman Harding presented the following
resolution and moved its adoption. Aldrrpan Pearson seconded the motion which received the
following vote; -Ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford;
nays none, absent and not voting none. The Mayor declared the motion passd and the Resolutii�
adopted. A copy is as follows;-

WHEREAS, M.S.Powers, Geo. N. Cade and G.E. Ripley, as the Board of Assessment
of Paving Improvement District Number Thirty-six (36) of the City of Fayettes#
ville, Arkansas, did, on the 3rd day of October, 19270deposit with the City
Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, the assessment Roll of Paving Im-
provement District Number Thirty-six (360 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkan-.
sas,duly subscribed by each of them;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE
ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
That the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be, and

he is hereby required to cause to be published in the Fayettevillej Democrat, a
daily newspaper published in said City, a notice stating that said assessment
has been so filed, and that the same is now subject to inspection.
SECTION TWO:
That all resolutions in conflict herewith be, and the same are
hereby repealed, and this resolution shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage and approval.

A communication from James L. Stice was read to the Council.This communication referred to

The annual report of the Board of Improvement for Mont Nord Improvement District Number One
of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas was filed with the City Clerk.
Alderman Bynum introduced an ordinance.providing for the amendment of Ordinance Number 647,
which was read the first time. Alderman Jones moved that the Ryles be suspended and the
Ordinance placed on its second reading. Ald rman Harding seconded the motion which received
the following vote; ayes, Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson,
Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting none, and was declared passed by the Mayor*
the ordinance was read the second time. Alderman Harding them moved that the Rules be further
suspended and the ordinance placed on.its third reading and final passage. This motion was
seconded by llderman Scott, and received the following vote, ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake,
Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting none, and
was deleared passed by the Mayor. The Ordinance was read the third time. The Mayor then an -
bounced that the question before the Council is shall the ordinance pass, and called for
the vote on its passage, which

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
That Section One of Ordinance Number 647, passed and approved on the 27th
day of December, 1926,and recorded in Record "C" of the Proceedings of the City Council of
the City of'Fayetteville, Arkanxas,on pages 136 and 137,be, and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows;
"Section One; It shall hereafter be -unlawful for any person or persons to park any
motor driven vehicle upon the Public Square or upon either side of East Center Street between
East Street and College kvenue, or upon either side of Block Street between Center Street j
and Meadow Street, or upon either side of Dickson Street between School Street and West Street
r upon either side of Hest Street between Dickson Street and Lafayette A -venue, for a period
of time longer than Two (9) hours, between the hours of 8 o'clock A.M. and6 of -clock P.M.,
upon all week days."
SECTION TWO: t
That all ordinances and parte of ordinances in conflict )MOP herewith be,
and the same are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage, approval and publicat&mn.

The Ordinance Committee reported in the matter of the petition of certain parties praying
for the enactment of an ordinance placing a license charge upon all Sign Painters, that there
seemed in thierment ud
j g , no general demand for such license nor any general need of the
"same, and that it would work unnecessary hardship on many persons. They therefore recommended
that no action be taken in tre matter. This report was duly approved, on motion.
No further bu iness appevring, the Council adjourned.
