of the meeting of September 19th, 1927 were read and approved.
ING BILLS against the Citybearing the proper vouchergi and the approval of the Auditing
Committee, were allowed,and ordered paid on motion by Alderman Scott, seconded by Aoderman
Harding,passed by the unanimous vote of the Gouncil and so declared by the Mayor; to -wit; -
Magnolia Petroleum Co. $`p12.00; A.C. Hart $25.00; Ben Porter $25.00;Ed Malone $12.50; I.M.
Ketron $10.00;Spence Rogers. "3.15; Dave Condra 536.00.
Clerk reported that the following reports had been filed with him during the preceeding
weeks- Annual Report of Commissioners of North College Avenue Improvement Distrivct Number 0
Annex Number One to North College Avenue Improvement District Number OneP; Assessors reports
inAnnex Number One to Sevier Improvement District Number One, Annex Number One to University
Improvetsent District Number One;and Water Improvement Dstrict Number Three.Also the report
of the Commissioners of Douglas Street Improvement District Number One.
A petition from certain S114,2d Card Writers, praying that an Ordinence be passed imposing
a license tax on all persons engaged in that line of business was presented, and
referred to the Ordinance Committee for report, at the convenience of the Committee.
T ;The Building Inspector presented the protest of Mrs T.G. Phillips against the granting of a

building permit to J.F. Ladd to erect a business house on Lot 5 Block 1 Leverett's Addition

to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, whereupon Alderman Harding moved,that in as much as
said Building
was to be
located
about 3
blocks from
the
property of
the
protestant;
and
parties owning
property
adjacent
to said
location had
not
objected to
the
granting of
said
permit.sAid protest of Mrs

be disregarded and the
permit
granted as asked.
Alderman Scott seconded the
motion which
received the following
vote;

The Mayor declared the motion passed and the application granted.
Alderman Pearson introduced an ordinance providing for the payment for the Tractor recent
OR: ly purchased by the City, which was read the first time. Alderman Harding moved that the
Rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. This motion was seconded

by Aldrman Jone's and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones,
Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not votin)3 none, and was declared
passed by the Mayor. The Ordinance was read he second'time.
Alderman Drake then moved that the Rules be further suspended and the Ordinance placed
on its third reading ad final passage. This motion was seconded by Ald rman Scott and Pogo t
received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller,
Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting none and was declared passed by the Mayor.
The ordinance was read the third time. The Mayor then announced that the question before the
Council was shall the ordinance pass, and called for the vote on its passagem which resulted

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
The Mayor and city clerk are hereby authorized and directed to issue Four City
Warrants payable either to the Halloran Tractor Company or to whom they may direct toreceive

payment, in a total sum•not to exceed the sum of Forty

each for $1,052.25,.due and payable 1,2,3 and 4 ,years from date.
SECTION T`W0:
The warrants so issued to be payable from the city street fund, and to be issue
for the purpose of payment of a type thirty tractor purchased from the Halloran Tractor
Company by the Board of Public Affairs of the City of Fayetteville, which purchase was con-
firmed by the City Council on the 8th day of August, 1927.
SECTION THR=E:
That this ordinance be in force and effect from and after its passage, appr
and publication and all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith, be and the same
are hereby repealed.

The City Engineer made his report in the matter of Mr McMurray's proposal to extend the pa
on East Dickson Street a distance of 75 feet, and recommended that if the property owners
would make an additional extension of 50 feet, or a total of 125 feet of paving, then, in
that event the City would be justified in expending not more than $125.00 in caring for
the drainage problem. Alderman Drake moved that the report be re ceived and approved. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Pearson and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen
Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Pearson Fuller, Stanford; nays nose and was declared
passed by the Mayor.
Alderman Harding moved that the Order of the Council requiring all owners of Taxicabs to
provide stands other than those on the publis Streets, as set forth in the motion of Alder-
man Jones, passed on the 13th day of June, 1927 and recorrIed at page 177 of this record, be
and the same is hereby recinded. Alderman Jones seconded the motion which received the follc
vote Ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none
and was declared passed by the Mayor.
Alderman Scott moved that an appropriation of not more than 64250.00 be made for the pur-
pose of extending the bridge across the Town Branch , on South College Avehue so as to pro-
vide sidewalks at the crossing of said branch. Alderman Drake seconded the motion which re-
ceived the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pears
Stanford, nays none and w as declared passed by the Mayor.
Alderman Jones moved that the Light Committee of the City Council and the City Attorney in-
vestigate the contract with the Southwest Power Company, and report a plan whereby the expe
of street lights skull be cinfined to the provisions of the City Budget, and provide for su
additional lights as are needed to adequately light the City Streets. Alderman Pearson Seco
ed the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned, on motion to meet on the night of
Friday, September, 30th, 1927. r, n
