REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD AUGUST 29th, 1927.
(PRESENT the Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford;
absent, Aldermen.Drake, and Jones.
!THE MINUTES of the meeting of August, 22nd, 1927 were read and approved.
THE FOLLOWING BILLS against tie .City, bearing the proper vouchers and the approval of -the Auditing
Committee were allowed and ordered paid and the.Clerk was directed to issue warrants for
the same on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Aldermen Pearson, passed by the unanimous
vote of the members listed above as present and so declared by the Mayor; Dave Co ndra $36.00;
A.C. Hart $20;00;Ben Porter $20.00;Ed. Malone $10.00; I.M. I{etron $3.75;John Zillah $12.25;

CLOSETS; Alderman Harding introduced an ordinance providing for the amendment of Section Nine of
Ordinance no. 313,passed and approved July 8th, 1913, which was read the first time.
lAldnrman Scott moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second read-
ling. Alderman Bynum seconded.the motion which receihed the following vote; ayes Aldermen
Harddng, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson' Stanford;. nays-nonee absent and not voting Aldermen
(Drake and Jones. The ordinance was read the second time. Alderman Pearson then moved that the
Rules be further suspended and the ordinance palced on its third reading and final passage.

NINE.10F ORDINANCE NUMBER 313" PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 8th DAY OF JULY, 1913.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTE7ILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: e r
That Section NineAof Ordinance Number 313,passed and approved the 8th day of July,
1913,be amended to read as follows;
Section Nine -that the City Scavenger is hereby authorized to collect from the
owner or occupants of any premises in this City,from which garbage, nightsoil from unsewered
privies,offal, dead animals, and otherwise offensive and unwholesome matter removed, for
such services the following sharges;
For the removal of carcases of horses, mules or cows,each $5.00
For the removal of hogs, sheepdogs, goats and other smaller animals including cats .75
For the removal of garbage, to be paid monthly by residents .30

Provided that the Board of Health shall have power to fix charges for the removal ofgarbage� I
and all other unsanitary matter required to be removed by th said Board of Health, not
specifically mentioned in this ordinance.
SECTION TWO:That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage,
japproval and publication

as Street and Whittham Avenue were forced to use surface closets because of the 1 ack
r sewer facilities, whereupon Alderman Harding introduced the following resolution and
its adoption. Alderman Pearson seconded the motion which received the following vote;

RESOLUTION.
, the property adjacent to Whittham Avenue, northward from.Douglas Street andthe
adjacent to Douglas Street Eastward from Whittham Avenue are forced by the lack of
mains to use surface closets,for the.cleaning of which they are forced to pay $12.00
annum in addition to their sewer tax;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the Board of Commissioners of Sewer Improvement District Number One of the City
teville, Arkansas are hereby requested and urged to provide adequate sewer service by
of such sewer mains as shall be necessary to the territory above mentioned; and that
a City Clerk be directed to notify said Board of the passage of this resolution..

RESOLUTION.
: portions of Whittham Avenue and Douglas Street are inadequately supplied with water
ins for the domestic use, Fire protection and the flushing of sewers;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the Board of Managers of the City Water Plant are.hereby requested and urged to lay
as
such mains are necessary to supply an amount of water sufficient for the above mentioned
purposes in said territory; and that the City Clerk is hereby dorected.to notify said Board
lof the passage of this resolution.

James L. Stice filed an appeal.from the action of the Board of Assessment in Water Improve-
ment District Number Two; whereupon the Mayor announced that said appeal would be heard at
next regular meeting of the City Council.
