REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD AUGUST 22, 1927.
RRESENT; the Mayo, Clerk; Aldermen Harding. -Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; absent
(Aldermen Drake and Jones.
THE MINUTES of the.meetings of.August 8th and 15th, 1927 were read and approved.
,BILLS: Thefollowing bills against the City were presented, having the proper vouchers and the ap-

provaI of he Auditing ^ommittee were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to
issue wyrrants for.the same on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Pearson,
passed by the unanimous vote of.the members listed above as present and so declared by the pI�

GRAY Alderman Harding introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. Alderman

Pearson seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Harding, Bynum, Scott,
!Pearson, Fuller, Stanford; nays none; absenb.and not voting Aldermen Drake and Jones and Pras
clared passed by the Mayor. A copy is as follows;
RESOLUTION.
1WHEREAS there is -a vacancy in the membership of the Board of Assessment for Water Improve-
ment Dsitrict Number Three of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas by reason of the death of
R.L. Vaughan;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANM
Th -it M.F. Gray, a qualified elector of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas be, and he is
(hereby, appointed to be.a member of.the.Board.og Assessment for Water Improvement District
(Number Three of the City of.Fayetteville, Arkansas.

DRIVERS:( Alderman Pearson introduced tho an ordinance providing for safeguarding the traveling
1public,which was read the first time. Alderman Harding moved that the Rules be suspended and
the ordinance placed on its seond reading.. Alderman Pearson seconded the motion which received
the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Sta�ford; nays
�absant and -not voting Aldermen Drake and Jones. The bIayor declared the motion passed. The
ordinance was read the se and time. Ald rman Pearson then moved that the Rules be further
suspended and the Ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage. This motion :Flas
seconded by Alderman Harding and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Bynum,
(Scott, Fuller, Pearson. Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen -Drake, and Jones.

The Mayor declared the motion passed..The Ordinance.was read the third time. The Mayor then
announced the question before the.Council is shall the 6adinance pass, and called for the
vote on its passage, which.resulted as follows; ayes Aldermen Hardong, Bynum, Scott, Fuller,
(Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen Drake, and Jones. The Mayor
(declared he ordinance passed. A copy is as follows;

AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED ° AN ORDINANCE TO BETTER SAFEGUARD THE
TRAVELZING PUBLIC AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES".
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYET TEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
Hereafter it shall be unlawful for any person to drive any automobile,truck or '
motor driven vehicle on or.over or upon the.streets of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansan,_ _I
` while in an intoxicated condition.
SECTION TWO:
Whoever shall be convicted of violating the provisions of Section One of this

e, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not
hat twenty-five ($25;00) Dollars nor.more.than Two Hundred .(,$200.00).Dollars for the first

mprisoned in addition to such fine not more.than Thirty (30). days.,
ECTION THREE:
All ordinancesor parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
ad this ordinance shall be in force and effect.from and.after.its passage, approval and
ublication.

ity of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
We, the.undersigned,-Board of Health of the City of Fayette -
Ile, Arkansas,hereby respectfully recommend and urge that you change the charge for remob
ght soil from private toilets from the sum of 50¢ as.now charged, to the sum of $1.00 for
ch closet.
Our sole interest,of course, is the sanitary condition of our City, and we feel'
at a competent sanitary officer cannot afford to do this work -for the small compensation
provided for.

Alderman Harding introduced a resolution.directing the Commissioners of North College
E: Avenue Improvement District of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,. to make certain repair
n the gutters at the intersections of North College Avenue with Dickson Street and with
n
jafayette,'and moved its adoption. Alderman Scott. seconded the motion wh6ch received the
ollowing vote; ayes Aldermen.Harding,.Bynum,.Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none;
bsent and not voting Aldermen Drake, and Jones, and was declared passed by the Mayor, and
resolution adopted. A copy is as follows;-

That the attention of the Board of Improvement of North College Avenue Improvement District
One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas is called to said dangerous condition, and
t they be, and are hereby, directed to repair the same at once.
