THE MINUTES of the.meeting of July 25th, 1927 were read and approved, following bills against the City bearing the proper vouc4ers and the approval of the ting Committee were allowed and ordered and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for same on mo*ion by Alderman. Harding, seconded by Alderman Bynum passed by the unanimous of the members prsent and so declared by the Mayor;E.M. Ratliff $0.75iDave Condra $36.0 Spence Rogers $5.00. -� I TEH REPORTS of the City Collector; The Police Judge and the Fire Chief were prrsented and on were ordered received and filed. : A petition asking for lights on South Willow Street was presented and on motion was to the Light Committee. A petition from thr Gibson 011 Co. asking for permission to out the curb and sidewalk for the purpose of constructing drivewat..into their Filling Station at the corner of Spring and College was granted.subject to the supervision of the City Engineer. A petition from property owners in Improvement District number Thirty-three of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, addressed jointly to the commissioners of the District and the City Council was referred to the said Commissioners. The City Clerk reported that apparently by an oversight on the part of the County Treasur of Washington County certain Taxes due.the..City had been, for several years diverted intro the County General Fund; whereupon Alderman Stanford moved that the Clerk be directed to prepare from the County Records a list showing the.taxes due the City,to the and that steps be taken to recover such sums as may be due the City. LEATHERS: Street Improvement District Number One of the Ciy Of Fayetteville, Arkansas having been pre- sented, Alderman Pearson moved that the same be accepted. Leathers and the Death of W.P. McNair Sr.; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY.COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE: That W.C. Hight, a property owner, owning real property within the District aforeas West Mountain Street saidbe, and he is hereby appointed.to be a.member of the Board of Improvement of/Improvement District Number One of the City of.Fayetteville, Arkansas, in place.of the said Dr. H.L. SENT, The Mayor and Clerk; Aldermen Harding,Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; ent Aldermen Drake and Jones. The Regular order of business was deferred.in order to -hear the protest of citizens in the atter of the application of Bert Watson.for permission to build a Filling Statton at the orner of Lafayette and College. The original application and the protest against the granting f the permit were read;whereupon the Mayor asked Mr Watson to make such representations as he ished to bring to the consideration of the Council. Mr Watson stated that he rested the case) pon the application alone. On.the request of the -Mayor for representations by the pro4estants he Hon. J.N. Tillman, as spokesman for the 130 signers of the protest, addressed the Council t considerable length. None others desiring to be heard, the Mayor requested the Council to ake such action as they desired to take in the matter. Alderman Harding suggested that the atter be deferred to a subsequent meeting for final action. Alderman Pearsonfavored immediate ettlement , and moved that the application be denied. Alderman Stanford seconded the motion , hich received the folloaiing vote; ayes Aldermen Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays Ald- rmen Harding and Bynum, absent and not voting Aldermen Drake and Jones. The Mayor declared the .otion passed and the application denied. HE MINUTES of the meeting of August 1st 1927 were.read and approved.
