REGULAR M"STING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD JULY 2$TH, 1097.
PRESENT the Mayor, Cler; Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Peaason, Stamford; absent
Aldermen Drake and Jones.
THE MINUTES of the meetings of July 18th and 22nd were read and approved.
The following bills against the City having the proper vouchers attached, and the approval
of the Auditing Committee were allowed and oddered paid on motion by Alderman Harding,
seconded by Alderman Bynum, passed by the unanimous vote of the members listed above as
present, and so declared by the Mayor; -Ellis Sutton $117.50; John Zillah 5517.50; Dave Condra
36.00;R.B. Daniels 02.00; Southwest Power Co. $p485.79;Ownbey Drug Co, ti$2.60; Edd Poore $3.E
J.C. Massie $11.00.
Scott moved that in compliance with the Order of the Council as recorded at page
153 of this record, the City Clerk be and he is hereby dcrected to issue a warrant payable
to T6m Taylor in the sum of $160.00 in payment of the pledge made by said Council for the
City's part of the cost of the construction of the road leading from North Leverett Avenue
th the Frisco
Railway,

The following communication was read by the Clerk; viz;-
To the Mayor and Council;
Fayetteville, July 23rd, 1927.
I hereby tender my resignation as Commissioner of Water
District Number 2, said resignation to take effect at once.

Rhereupon Alderman Harding moved that the resignation of Mrs S. Reep as Commissioner of
Water Improvement District Number Two be accepted. Ald rman Pearson seconded the motion whic
received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford;
nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen Drake and Jones. The Mayor declared the motion
passed and the resignation accepted.

introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. Alderman Pearson seconded the

Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen Drake and SC� aad- The
Mayor declared the motion passed and the resolution adopted. A copy is as follows;-

WHEREAS, F.P. Hall, W.C. Hight and Clem Pearson, as the Board of Assessment of Sewer Impro
ment Number One of the City off Fayetteville, Arknsas,did, on the 25th day 'of July, 1927,
deposit with the City Clerk the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, the re -assessment Roll
of Sewer Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,duly subscrib
ed by each of them;
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLF, ARKANSAS;
SECTION ONE:
That the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be, and he is..hereby
required to cause to be published in the Fayetteville, Democrat, a daily newspaperpublished
in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,a notice stating thatsaid re- assessment has been so
filed by said Board of Assessment,and that the same is now subject to inspection.
SECTION YWO:
That all Orders and resolutions in conflict herewith be, and the same are here
repealed, and this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after giits passage

Henry B. Walker requested permidsion to connect with the sewer line lying in the alley in
Block Number One ,Original Town, and Alderman Harding moved that such permission be granted
on condition that said Walker shall pay to the property owner who laid the line, a sum to be
determined by the City Engineer. Alderman Scott seconded the motion which received the fol- '
log*ling vote; ayes•Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays none;
absent and not voting Aldermen Drake, and Jones. The Mayor declared the motion passed.
The Matter of the sale of the City Warrants to be issued to Improvement District Number
Thirty-three of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas was ref@e'red to the Finance Committee.

Gemtlemen;
Hereto attached is an ordinance which when passed
ill authorize this Board to advertize for bids and award a contract for the pureahse of a
tractor and grader for use upon the dirt streets of this City at a total cost .of not to
exceed Five Thousand Dollars.
It being our understanding that the Council desibes this ,
equipment to be purchased, we.recommend the passage of the ordinance hereto attached.

Nhereupon Alderman Bynum introduced the following Ordinance which was read the First time.
Alderman Pearson moved that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance palced on its sec6nd
reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Stanford and recieved the following vote;
ayes Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Bearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not
voting Aldermen Drake, and Jones. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The Ordinance was
read the second time.
Alderman Harding then moved that the Rules be further suspended and the Ordinance palced
on its third reading andfinalpassage, This motion was seconded by Alderman Scott and recei
ved the ollowing vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stanford; nays ,
none; absent and not voting Aldellrmen Drake and Jones. The Mayor declared the motion passed.
The Ordinance was read i.he thirk#...time. The Mayor then announced the q&estion before the
Council is shall the Ordinance pass, and called for the Vote of its passage, which resulted
as follows; Ayes Aldermen Harding, Bynum, Scott, Fuller, Pearsom, Stanford; nays none; absen

World's Convention of Fire -Fighters to be held during the month of August, 1927 in the City
of Portland, Oregon. Alderman Stanford seconddd the motion which received the following vote
ayes Aldermen Harding,'Bynum, Scott, Pearson, Stanford; nays none; absent and not voting Ald
ermen Drake and'Jones. The I+layor declared he motion passed.

TEH REPORTS of the City Collector; The Police Judge and the Fire Chief were prrsented and on
were ordered received and filed.
A petition asking for lights on South Willow Street was presented and on motion was
the Light Committee.
A petition from thr Gibson Oil Co. asking for permission to out the curb and sidewalk for
the purpose of constructing drivewat.into their Filling Station at the corner of Spring and
College was granted subject to the supervision of the City Engineer,
A petition from property owners in Improvement District number Thirty-three of the City
of Fayetteville,.Arkansas, addressed jointly to the commissioners of the District and the
City Council was referred to.the said Commissioners.
The City Clerk reported that apparently by an oversight on the part of the County Treasur
of Washington County certain.Taxes-due.the City had been, for several years diverted intro
the County General Fund; whereupon Alderman Stanford moved that the Clerk be directed to
prepare from the County Records a list showing the.taxes due the City,to the and that steps
may be taken to recover such sums as may be due the City. Alderman Harding second -d the mot

On motion by Aldrman Harding seconded by Aldrman Pearson, the matter of making repairs
at the intersection of Forest and Lafayette was referred to the City Engineer for an estimate
of the cost.
