guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined in any sum not exceeding Fifteen Dollars.

matter of the rental of the City Wagon Yard came on to be heard at this time, and Attorm
ney J.W. Walker, representing Mr. A.M. Byrnes, denied the validity of the action of the Gou
Council in attempting to extend the contract for lease of said property for a period. of
five years, contending that the lease having expired, the City was without any rights in
matter. The City Attorney replied, taking the ground that the renewal and extension of the
lease was valid, and the City well within her rights. However, a proposition being made to
lease the property direct to Eason & Company, reserving to the City the free use of such
part of said property for use as a public Wagon Yard as is now so used, ahving been made,
the matter was deferred , to allow time for the perparation of the contract, which shall
be submitted to the Council for approval.
The matter of controlling the drainage at the corner of South College and Rock Street was
referred to the Street Committee and the City Engineer for report.
A request for street light on North Leverette Street was referred to Aldermen Bynum and J
T; -e Sewer Committee was directed to take up with the Engineer and the Health authorities
the matter of forcing property owners to make sewer connections.

THE MINUTES of the meeting of April, 25th, 1927 were read and approved.
BILLS: IThe following bills against the City, bearing the proper vouc%)ers, and the approval of the
Auditing Committee, were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was direct&d to issue war-
rants for the same on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Drake, passed by the

tract Number 32 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, whereupon Alderman Harding moved
that said report be spread of record. Alderman Drake meconded the motion which received the
following vote, ayes Aldermen Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Fuller, Pearson, Stan-
ford; nays none, absent and not voting none, and was declared passed by the Mayor. The

City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;-
Gentlemen;- Your Board of Commissioners of Improvement Dis-
trict Number Thirty-two of the City of Fayetteville, Abkansas, have employed E.M. Ratliff
to prepare plans and make estimate of cost of grading and curb and gutter to be constructed)
within Improvement District Number Thirty-two of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, upon

-the streets as the same were described in the petitions which were presented to your
Honorable Body.
Based upon the report made by pur engineer, we have decided to build curbing twelve
inches in height and gutter six inches in thickness. The curb and gutter will be so located
that a space twenty-four fin- feet in width will be left between the curbs for traffic.
The estimated cost of this work as submitted by E.M. Ratliff is $9,350.00, and we
respectfully ask that your Honorable Body appoint a Borrd of Assessment, who shall assess
' the benefits against the property within Improvement District Number Thiirty-two of the

City of.Fayetteville, Arkansas.

WHEREAS,
at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,held on the
2nd day of May, 1927,there was poesented to said Council by H.C. Evins, L.M. Holt and J.W.
Robinson as the Board of Improvement of Improvement District Number Thirty-two of the City o

Fayetteville, AArkansas, their report, together with the plans of the work to be done in thl
construction of the improvement contemplated by said Improvement District, and the said

report having been read in open meeting of said Council and said plans having been exhibit
to said Council and to each member thereof,and it pppearing from the said plans that the
total cost of said improvement, exclusive of interest charges, is the sum of $99350.00, and
the said Council being satisfied that the plans are feasible and practicable,and that the
same are correct,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:

The Reports of the City Collector, for April, 1927, and his Annual Report for the Year 1926
1927, also the reports of the Police Judge, The PurchasinT Agent and The Fire Chief were
presented and on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Drake, and duly passed,
were ordered received and filed.
FLETCHER Alderman Harding moved that the street Department be authorized and directed to do grading

on Fletcher Avenue at an expense of not more than $50.00, provided the Board of Managers
of the City WaterPlant will pay an equal amount. Alderman Pearson seconded the motion which
received the unanimous vote of the Council.
GUNTER Referring to Mr. Dinwiddiets request for the establishment of a grade on Gulter Street, Ald

erman Drake, seonded by Alderman Scott, moved that Mr, Dinwiddie be requested to appear
before the Council and explain just what he wants. This motion was duly passed.
CITY The City Collector appeared before the Council and offered the following recommendations;

AUDIT OF Alderman Brake moved that the employment of an accountant to audit the City Books be

per day,for not more that ten days; and that the expense be limited to $150.00. Alderman
Fuller seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.

for delivery, and asked that payment be made for the three copies ordered by the City; wher
upon Alderman Scott moved that the Clerk be directed to issue a warrant in the sum of $24.

DIIER I The Sewer Committee reported that in the opinion of the Committee further action in

the matter of forcing property owners to connect with the sewer be postponed till the
completion of the map showing the location of the sewer mains. Whereupon Alderman Harding
ed that the report be received with approval. This motion was duly seconded and passed.
