PRESENT; the Mayor, Clerk, Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott Watson* absent none. THE MINUTES of the meeting of March, 21st, 1927 were read and approved. THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City , bearing the proper vouchers, and the approval of the Auditing Committee, were allowed and orddeed paid and the Clerk was directed to issue war - rants for the same on motion by Alderman Price, seconded by Alderman Scott, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayob, Acme White Lead & Color Works $$9.90;Ellis Sutton,.$11.75; Dave Condra $36.00;John 'Zillah $21.10; Van Cochran $37.99; J.W. Shelley $8.00. T;he appellants in the matter of the assessments in Improvement Ddstrict Number Thirty - City of Fayettevi:l.le,AAkansas, desiring further time, Alderman Jones moved that said Hearing be continued to the next regular meeting of the Council. Alderman Harding seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price, Hard - Ing, Drake, Bynum, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not voting none, wad was declared passed by the Mayor. At the request of Mr, Claud Sandford for the establishment of the Stdewalk grade along t$e front of his lot, Alderman Harding moved that the City Engineer be directed to establish sidewalk grade along the front of Lot 5, Block 3, Englewood Addition to the City of Fay- etteville,on VanDeventer Street. Alderman Price seconded the motion which received the unan- imoue vote of the Council. The Street Committee presented a report on the request of the Beary Associations for aid in the construction of a road along the North City Limits.from the North end of Leve.,., Avenue to the Railway, and recommended that the City grant a subsidy of $160.00, to be p aid' i if and when the County of Washington paid a like sum; and Alderman Price moved that an appro+ priation of $160.00 from the Street Fund of the City be made to pay said subsidy. Alder- man Scott secomded the motion which received the following vote, ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; naps none; absent and not Voting none, pil and was declared passed by the Mayor. A petition asking for the passage of an Ordinance authorizing the making of a bond issue by the City for the purpose of assisting in the erection of a building to be used as an Armory and for general City purposes was presented by Capt. E.K. Hooper. After some discussio the matter was deferred for future action. No further business appearing the Council adjourned.. Attest; Clerk. Approved; Mayor. DISTR. # 35; FIRE I ZONE: The Reports of the City Collector, The Poilce Judge, The City Purchasing Agent, The Fire Chief anf the City Clerk were presented and on motion were orederd received ---Ind filed. On motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Watson the hearing.of the appeals from the action of the Assessors in Improvement District Number Thirty-three of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas was continued to the next regular meeting, April 11th, 1927; the vote on the motion to so continue said hearing was as follows; ayes Alderman Phillips, Pri Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott,Watson; nays none; absent and not voting none. and the motion was declared passed by the Magor. The City Clerk reported that the Board of Assessment in Improvement District Number Thirty- five had filed their report and the list of assessments in said District with him on the 2nd day of April, 1927, whereupon Alderman Harding introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. Alderman Price second d the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price; Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jonse, Scott, Watson; nays none absent and not votin none, and was declared passed by the Mayor and the resolution adopted. A copy is as follows; RESOLUTION. ;1 WHEREAS,W.N. Gladson, H.M. Hudgens and R.E. Wages as the Board of Assessment of Impr ment District Number Thirty-five of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, did, on the 2 day of April, 1927, deposit with the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,�sr reNert- the Assessment Roll of Improvement District Number thirty -live of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, duly subscribed by eacJ3 of them; NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED T3N_ff* BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE: That the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas be, and he is hereby required to cause to.be published in the Daily Democrat, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, a notice stating that said Assessment has been so filed by said Board of Assessment, and that the same is now subject to inspection. SECTION TWO: That all orders and reolutions in conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed,and this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval. An ordinance providing for the amendment of the Fire Zone ordinance was introduced by Alderman Price, and read the first time. Ald rman Harding moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance palced on its second reading. Alderman Jones seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldrr- men Phillips, Price, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson, nays none, absent and not voting and was declared passed by the Mayor.. The ordinance was read the second time. At the request of Messrs Hale ind McNair, it was ordered that the City E ngineer establish the grade for a sidewalk along a portion of Ozark Avenue.
