REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD MARCH 14th, 1927.
President pro tempore.
PRESENT: the Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott,
Watson; absent none.
THE MINUTES of the meeting of March 7th, 1927 were read and approved.
THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City were presented, bearing the proper vouchers, and havi
the approval of the Auditing Committee, and on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Ald
man Phillips and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor,
were ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same; John Zillah,
j 50.50;Dave Condra $36.00; Kelly Brothers Lumber Oc. $IM.50; Thomas & Son, $2.00;
The time having arrived for the hearing of appeals from owners of real property in Improve-
ment District Number Thirty-three (33) of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and it appear

ing that the matter demanded more time than could be given at this time, Alderman HardIng
j moved that the said hearing be continued to a special meeting of the City Council to be hel
on the 18th day of March, 1927 at 7;30 P.M. theeeof. T4is motion was seconded by Alderman
Harding and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Byn
Johes, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not voting none, and was declared passed by the
Mayor.
The Ordinance Committee reported that having investigated the matter of licenses
for Butchers they were of the opinion that said license was too high and should by reduced
to $25.00 per annum, payable annually. and requested thetC the City Attorney be instructed
to prepare an ordinance to that effect; which was so ordered.
A communication from the Southwest Power Co, requesting permission to cut the pavement in
order to instal White -way lights. On motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Jones
and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council this matter was referred to the City Engin-
eer.
A communication from Mr Dinwiddie, Building Inspector, suggesting certain changes in
the limits of the Fire Zone was read to the Council, whereupon Alderman Harding moved that
the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an ordinance, making the suggested change; Alder
man Drake seconded the motion wahich received the following voye; ayes Ald rmen Phillips,
Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum; nays Aldermen Jones, Scott, Watson, absent and not voting .

At the request of the St.Louis San Fransisco Railway Company for the enactment of an ordi-
nance authoriz&ng the Mayor to sign the contract for use of the Right-of-way for laying
sewer main, the City Attorney was directed to prepare such ordinance.

inrormatly, the mayor was requested to take up with the Uibson oil Company the matter of
car -washing on thier lot on College Avenue to the end that the filthy condition of the
street adjacent to said lot might remedied.
Also, withput formal action, the matter of making sewer connections in certain sections
of the City was discussed and the Board of Health requested to enforce the ordinances in
such case made.
No further business appearing, the Council, on motion, adjourned to Friday
March 18th, 1927. at 7330 P.M.

MARCH 18th, 1927.,
The Mayor being absent, the Clerk called the Council to order, whereupon Alderman Price was
duly elected to be President pros tempore of the Council, and took charge of the meeting.
THE ROLL CALL showed the following present; Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum,
Jones, Scott , Watson; the Clerk; absent, the Mayor.

THE READING OF THE MINUTES of the previous meeting was, on motion, deferred to the next
regular meeting.
The President pro tempore announced the purpose of the meeting to be the hearing of the

appeals €rem owners of real property in Improvement District Number thirty-three (33) of kk
the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, from the action of the Board of assessment thereof, in
-levyl- assessing the benefits to be received by reason of the proposed improvement, and
i directed that said hearing proceed. Whereupon Alderman Harding moved that in as much as the
said owners of real property were desirous of more time for investigation before presenting'

their claims, the hearing be continued to the next regular meeting of the Council on the
121st day of March, 1927 at 7;30 P.M. Alderman Bynum seconded the motion which received the
following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson.l

to the next regular meeting of the City Counc1l,to be held on the 28th day of March, 1927.
