Mayor, REGULAR MEETING OF TH7 UITY COUNCIL HELD MARCH 7th, 1927 sent, The Clerk; Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott; absent lderman Watson, and the Mayor, Alderman Phillips was duly elected President pros tempore of the Council. MINUTES of the meeting of February 21st, 1927, the last preceeding meeting, were read approved, following bills against the City, having the proper vouchers attached, bearing the ap- al of the Auditing Committee, were allowed and ordered paid on motion by Alderman Hard# ng, seconded by Alderman Price, passed by the unanimous vote of the membeers present and so clared by the President pro Tempore; Dave Condra x$24.00; Southwest Power Co. $391.25; .G. Ownbey Drug Co. x$1.00;Henry B. Walker $51.00; Democrat Publishing Co. $6.18;E.M. Ratli '$46.25;Southwestern City Bell Tel Co. $28.80; Allan M. Wilson x$21.85;and $57.40;Harry E. Hamilton shrubery ,$1.30;Simpson-Mimtun the $5.28;and x$4.40; Goss -Rogers Electric Co. $5.00;Snowbird Coal Co. x$10.00; Motor Co. $4.10; John Zillah $31.25;and $75.00; Allan M. Wilson $10.00. reports of the City Purchasing Agent, The City Collector, The Police Judge, The City lerkand The Fire Chief were read to the Council, and on motion duly passes were ordered eceived and filed. petition asking permission to construct a fence, encroaching about ten feet on the street djacent to the property of the City Park, said fence to be removed.by the petitioners at t option of the City Council, and being designed for the protection of the trees and shrubery I now located in the street, was presented, and on motion by Alderman Jones, seconded by Ald- Price, and passed by the unanimous vote of the members present the petition was granted. BUTCHER'S A petition asking for a reduction of the license charged to butchers was presented, and LICENSE: I n motion duly passed was referred to the ordinance Committee with instructions to report at the next regular meeting of the Council. DIRECTORY:_ Alderman Drake moved that the Mayor be authorized to purchase three copies of a Directc of the City now being prepared. Thirty-three (33) of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, having been filed with the Clerk, were presented to the Council.Whereupon Alderman Jones moved that in as much as none of the I were present, the hearing of said appeals be continued to March 14th,1927, the next regular meetin of the City Council, and that the clerk be directed to notify each of said persons of the time and place of said hearing, to the end that they might appear and present thier claims to the Council. Alderman Drake seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott; nays lone; absent and not voting Alderman Watson, and was declared passed by the President pro CLEAN- UP Representatives of the City Beautiful Committee, and the Secretary of the Chamber of WEEK: (Commerce weer present and set.before the Council plans for the annual Clean-up Week, ESM 10 requested the co-operation of the Council in their project. Clerk, REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD MARCH 14th, 1927./„ PRESENT: the Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; absent none. THE MINUTES of the meeting of March 7th, 1927 were read and approved. THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City were presented, bearing the proper vouchers, and hav the approval of the Auditing Committee, and on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Al man Phillips and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so declared by the Mayor, were ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same; John Zillah, 50.50;Dave Condra $36.00; Kelly Brothers Lumber Oc. $lM.50; Thomas & Son, $2.00; HEARING, The time having arrived for the hearing of appeals from owners of real property in Improve- DISTR. 33; ment District Number Thirty-three (33) of the City of Fayetteville, Arksnsas, and it appear Drake i ing that the matter demanded more time than could be given at this time, Alderman HardIng moved that the said hearing be continued to a special meeting of the City Council to be kel on the 18th day of March, 1927 at 7;30 P.M. thereof. T4is motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Byn I Johes, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not voting none, and was declared passed by the Mayor. BUTCHERS, The Ordinance Committee reported that having investigated the matter of licenses LICENSE:1 for Butchers they were of the opinion that said license was too high and should by reduced to $25.00 per annum, payable annually, and requested thatC the City AteOrney be instructed (LIGHT CO, REQUEST (CUT TO (PAVEMENT i CHANGE FIRE ZONE: I t to prepare an ordinance to that effect; which was so ordered. A communication from the Southwest Power Co, requesting permission to cut the pavement in order to instal White -way lights. On motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Jones and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council this matter was referred to the City .Engin- eer. A communication from Mr Dinwiddie, Building Inspector, suggesting certain changes in the limits of the Fire Zone was read to the Council, whereupon Alderman Harding moved that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an ordinance, making the suggested change; Alder man Drake seconded the motion wahich received the following vojre; ayes Ald rmen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum; nays Aldermen Jones, Scott, Watson, absent and not voting none.
