A copy is as follows; -
ORDINANCE NUMBER 648.
AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED " AN ORDINANCE TO LEVY THE ASSESSMENT UPON THE REAL PROPERTY
LOCATED WITHIN IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NUMBER THIRTY-ONE (31) OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS."
WHEREAS, the majority in value of the property holders owning property adjoining the
locality to be affected, and situated in Improvement District Number Thirty-one (31) of the
City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,organized for the purpose of grading, rolling and paving the
Streets and parts of streets within Improvement District Number Thirty-one (31) of the City
of Fayetteville, Arkansas,have petitioned the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Ark
sas, for the construction of said improvement and that the cost thereof shall be assessed
upon the real property of said District according to the benefits to be received; and
WHEREAS,said benefits receiv d by each block, lot and parcel of real property situated
in said District equals or exceeds the local assessment; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of said improvement is $23, 863.00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARK.ANSAS:
SECTION ONE:That said several blocks, lot and parcels of real property in said District
be assessed according to the assessment list for said Improvement District as the same now
remains in the office of the Recorder or City Clerk; and that 10 per centum on said blocks,
lots and parcels
shall
be paid annually
on
or before
the First Monday of November, until
the whole of said
local
assessment shall
be
paid.
SECTION TWO:That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, be, and
same are hereby repealed, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage, approval and publication.

At the r@quest of Alderman Drake the City Engineer was directed to establish grades on
Park Avenue to Trenton Boulevard and along Louise Street, adjacent to the property of the
City Park.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD FEBRUARY
14th, 1927.
Present; the Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Phillips, Harding, Drake'yYongs, Scott, Watson; absent
Alderman Price.
The Minutes of the Meeting of February 7th, 1927 were read and approved.
The following bills against the City bearing the proper vouchers, the approval of the Audits
Ing Committee, were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was ddrected to issue warrants
for the same on motion by Alderman Drake, Seconded by Alderman Scott passed by the unanimous
vote of the members present and so de lared by the Mayor;Dave Condra $36.00;School Avenue
Improvement District Number One $112.84;Snow-Bird Coal Co. $10.00; and 10.00;Henry Barton
$14.50, and $63.25; John Zillah $87.50;Dyke Lumber Co. $16.50; Ellis Sutton $5.00;Democrat
Publishing Co. $9.66;J.C. Massie $1.00;Southwest Power Co. $293.43; Lewis Bros. Co. $0.90;
J.W. Shelley $13.50; Tropical Paint & Oil Co. $29.40.
The report asked for from the Sewer Commissioners was received, and on motion was ordered
filed. This report set out the reasons for the extension of the sewer mains beyond the City
Limits on the West side.

to take some action in the matter of City aid for the proposed. District. Whereupon, after
discussion by various members of the Council. Alderman Harding moved that an appropriation
of $330.00 by made from the Street Maintenance Fund for the construction of a culvert on
Duncan Street at the foot of the hill. This motion was seconded by Alderman Jones and re-
ceived the following votes ayes Aldermen Phillips, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott,
Watson; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Price. The.Mayor declared the motion
passed.
Alderman Jones then moved that the Council go on record as favoring a grant of
$2,805.95 to pave the intersections in Improvement District Number Thirty-five of the City
of Fayetteville, Arkansas. This motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the
following vote; ayes aldermen Phillips, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; nays
none; absent and not voting Alderman Price. The Mayor declared( the motion passed.
A communication from the D.A.R. was read to the Council and on motion was ordered filed.

Alderman Jones seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldrmen Phillips
Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, WAtson.e nays none; absent and not voting Alderman
Price, and was declaredX passed by the Mayor. A copy is as follows;-

WHEREAS, E.F. Trippe, M.W. Moore and H.M Hudgens, as the Board of assessment of Improve-
ment District Number Thirty-three (33) of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,did, on the
14th day of February, 1927, deposit with the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkans
the Assessment of Improvement District Number Thirty-three (33) of the City of Fayetteville
Arkansas, duly subscribed by eacJ3 of them,
NU9, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
That the City Clerk ofx the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas be, and he is
hereby, required to cause to be published in the Fayetteville Democrat, a daily newspaper
published in
the
City
of Fayetteville, Arkansas,a
notice stating that said
assessment has
been so filed
by
said
Board of Assessors, and that
the same is now subject
to inspection.
SECTION TWO:
That all Orders and Resolutions in conflict herewith be, and the same are here
repealed,and this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage

The matter of obtaining State aid for the construction of the pavement of Improvement
District Number Thirty -One was discussed, and in as much as it appeared highly important
that a representative of the City go to Little Rock to look after the City's interests in
this matter, Alderman Drake moved that the City Attorney, Mr. Geo A. Hurst be delegated to
go th the Capital for this purpose. Alderman Scott seconded the motion which receibed the
following vote; ayes Aldrmen Phillips, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watsom; nays n
absent and not voting Alderman Price. The Mayor declared the motion passed.
No further business -appearing the Council adjourned.
