HELD JANUARY 19th, 1927.
Present;
Aldermen Phillips, Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; and the
Clerk; absent the Mayor.
On motion duly put and passed Alderman Phillips was chosen as the
President proitem for the meeting.
The President pro tempore announced the purpose of the meeting to be the consideration
of the application for a building permit by.Mr Dye and the protest against the granting of
the same.
It
was
suggested that in
as
much as the
Mayor
was absent, and the
applicant
was
not present
to
represent his side
of
the matter,
that
action be deferred
to the next
regu
lar meeting,whereupon Alderman Harding moved that the hearing of the protests against the
granting of the gprmit to mr Dye be continued to the next regular meeting. Alderman Bynum
seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price,
Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; nays none and was declaeed passed by the
President pro tempore.
No further business appearing the Council afjourned.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD
JANUARY,Z4., 1927.
Present; the Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen,Price, Harding, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson,
Phillips.
The minutes of the meetings of January 17, and 19 were read and approved.
The following bills agaihst the City were allowed and ordered paid on motion by Alderman
Price, seconded by Alderman Phillips, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council and so de
clared by the Mayor; Allan M. Wilson,(for laborers cleaning the debris of the storm from th
streets) $171.70; Dave Condra $36.00;John Zillah $70.00; Allan M. Wilson, $38.04; Patterson
Blair $0.60;A.M. Byrnes $96.00;American LaFrance Fire Tngine Co. $21.17.
QG in the matter of a permit for business building in Block 32. The time for said hearing
having arrived, the protestors being present in person•and.by attorney, the hearing was.
begun. The text of the,protesting petition was read and Dr. C.B. Paddock and J.F. Moore
were placed under oath as witnesses, and their
testimony was
given
in open meeting of
the
Council. Also,
the Text of a petition favoring
the granting
of the
permit
was read to
the
Council by the
City Attorney. In as much as the
petioner, Mr
C.T.
Dye was
not present,
in
person nor by attorney, Alderman Price moved that the hearing be continued to January 31st
1927, and that Mr C.T. Dye be again notified of the time and place of said meeting. Aldermai
iPhillips seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips,
Price, Harding, Bynum, Scott; nays Aldermen Drake, Jones Watson; absent and not voting none
The mayor declared the motion passed, and the hearing so continued,

Alderman Jones moved that said hearing be continued to January, 1927. Alderman Price
seconded the motion which received the folowing vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price,
Drake, Bynum, Jones Scott, Watson; nays none;.absent and not voting none. The Mayor
the motion passed.
LICENSE ON POLICE AUTO: Alderman Jones moved that the Clerk be authorized and directed to pay
State license on the
Auto
belonging
to
Patrolman Burson, and which
is used by the
Police
Department. Alderman
Drake
seconded
the
motion which received the
following vote;
