An Ordinance to regulate Service Connections was pree-- introduced by Alderman Bynum, a
ad the first time. Alderman Phillips moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance

On motion, the Mayor the n appointed a committee composed of Aldermen Bynum, Phillips and

The matter of selecting the proper locations for the Street lights under the new Contract
s discussed informally, and finally referred to the Light Committee, composed of Aldermen
ing, Phillips and Drake, to be by them worked out in co-laboration with the other Alder -
en in the various Wards, and reported to the Council for action.

A communication from the Board of Managers of City Water Plant was referred to the Mayor,who
requested to meet with the Board for conference on the subject matter of said communi-
cation;viz; the metod of regulating the making of connections with the water mains.
A request for permission to install an electric sign at the corner of South School Avenue
was referred to the Chairman of the Street Committee.

IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
ECTION ONE:

That hthe rate of taxes for FIRE DEPARTMENT purposes for the year 1926 be,and it
s hereby declared to be ONE AND ONE-HALF (121) mills on the Dollar of assessed valuation of
11 real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkan
s shown by the Assessment Books for State and County purposes, and that the same is hereby
evied,and the Mayor and the City Clerk of said City are hereby authorized and directed to
ertify this levy to the County Clerk of Washington County, Arkansas,to the end that said

of the matter by the Council had shown the assessmaht of the property of J.A.Fallin to be

The Minutes of the meetings of October4th and 8th, 1926 were read and approved;
The following bills against the CitYQ, bearing the necessary vouchers and the approval of the
Auditing Committee were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrant
for the same om motion by Alderman Phillips, seconded by Alderman Harding passed by the
unanimous vote of the members present and so declared by the mayor; Heerwagen Bros Co, $7.0

The time having arrived for the gearing of the protest against the granting of a permit
for the erection of a Filling Station on South College Avenue, the Protest of Mr and Mrs H.
A. Mullenis was read to the Council, and after opportunity had been given for all who wished
to be heard concerning the matter, and the Council and the Mayor had investigated the same
Alderman Jones moved that the application for said permit be granted. Alderman Drake second-
ed the motion which received the following vote; ayes, Aldermen Phillips, Harding, Drake,
Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Price. The Mayor
declared the motion passed and the application granted.
The time having arrived for the hearing of the protests against the granting of a permit
rE.for the construction of a Filling Station on North College Avenue, near the City Limits,
and said protests having been read to the Council, opportunity was given for all parties
interested in the matter to be heard, and the Council being satisfied that the protests were
not well grounded, and that no serious financial injury would result for said construction,
Alderman Watson moved that the application for said permit be granted. This motion was seconj
ed by Alderman Phillips and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Harding,
Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Prince. The
Mayor declared the motion passed and the application granted.

on their own behalf filed appeals with the Clerk against the assessments in District No. 32
and lnnex Number One to Douglas Street ImprovementX District Number One on October 9th, 1926
which appeals were reported to the Council ; whereupon Alderman Harding moved that the hear-
ing of said Appeals be continued to Friday October 15th, 1926, at 7;30 P.M. Alderman Phillip
