Alderman Phillips moved that the Mayor, acting under the duty imposed on him in Section
7698, Crawford & Moses Digest of the Statutes of Arkansas,be requested to notify the City
Attorney that the City Council desires said City Attorney to attend the Regular meetings of
said Council,and attend diligently to his duties as such City Attorney. Alderman Price sec-
onded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price, Drake,
Bynum, Scott, Watson; nays none, present and not voting Alderman.Harding; absent and not
Ivottng Alderman Jones, and was declared passed by the Mayor.

jacent to Douglas Street Improvement District Number One therein,be annexed to said District
was presented to and filed with.the City Council__of.the..City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, on
the 21st day of June, 1926, said petition laiming to repredent the majority in value of the
property owners within the limits of said territory,
NII®, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:That the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be, and he is hereby
directed to publish for two weeks a notice in the Fayetteville Democrat, a newspaper publish
ed in said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, describing the territory embraced wththin said pro
posed annex, and stating that said petition will be considered at a meeting of said City
Council to be meld on the 19th day of July, 1926, at which meeting the property owners with#
in said.territory may appear and show cause for or against such annexation.
Passed and approved this 28th day of June, 1926.

The Minutes of the meeting of June 28th, 1926 were read and approved;
The following bills against the City, having been approved by the Auditing Committee wrer
and ordered paid, and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the same, on mo -
by Alderman Price, seconded by Alderman Drake, passed by the unanimous vote of the
rs present, and so declared by the Mayor; Dave Condra 36.00; W.L.Crouch $10.10;Avshier-
Motor Co. $10.65;John Zillah $23.00;J.W.Clarke $2.50;Allan M. Wilson $10.00; Goss -
Electric Co..$1.60 and $1.50;Security Motor Co. $50.36; Exide Battery Co. $3.25;
tteville Machine Shop $2.25; James Dinwiddie $71.00 and $30.00.
Reports were filed by the City Purchasing Agent, The Police Judge, The City Collector,
City Clerk The Fire Chief and The City Inspector, which were read to the Council and
motion were referred to the Auditing Committee.

PROTEST: protest against the granting.of the same was also filed with the Council, whereupon Alder- '
manHarding moved that a hearing for the parties interested by had at a meeting of the City
Council to be held in the Council Chamber, July 9th, 1926. Alderman Price seconded the mo-
tion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Phillips, Price,, Harding, Drake, Byn
um, Scott and Wbtson; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Jones, and was declared
passed by the Mayor.

REPORT OF THE BOARD OF IMPROVEMENT OF ANNEX NUMBER ONE TO SOUTH COLLEGE AVENUE IMPROVEMENT
DISTRICT NUMBER ONE OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: ,
We, the Board of Improvement of Annex -Number o$e to South College Avenue Im-
provement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, rkansas,respectfully beg leave
to report that we have secured the services of E.M.Ratliff of.Fayetteville, Arkansas, as .
civil engineer of said Improvement District; that he has made the necessary plans, surveys
and estimates to determine the type of pavement to be used.within.said District, and to
determine the cost of the same.
We have gone very carefully into the.question of cost, and estimates of cost
were submitted on various types of pavement which are suitable gor said Dsirtict.
The highest estimated cost of said improvement,. exclusive.of interest charges, is the sum
of $18,626.42. -
Detailed estimates of costs and plans, which were prepared by the said E.M.Ratliff are
submitted herewith for your consideration.
To.assess the benefits against the different Lots, Blocks and parcels of real estate withi
sic 'said Distr ict, we recommend that your Honorable Body appoint by resolution, as assessors,
three qualified electors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

6th day of July, 1926, there was presented to said Council by C.B.Franke, Ivan M. Mayes and
I.W.Guisinger, as the Board of Improvement of Annex Number Onb to South College Avenue Im.
provement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,their report, together
with the plans of the work to be done in the construction of the improvement contemplated
by said Improvement Distriut and the said report having been read in open meeting of said
Council, and said plans having been exhibited to said Council, and to each member thereof,

with a full and complete explanation of all the details thereof,and it appearing from said
plans,that the estimated cost of the construc:tton 3fp.satdmimprovement, exclusive of interest
charges,and inclusive of contingencies. -is the sum of $18,626.42, and the said Council being
satisfied that said plans will best subserve the purpose of said Improvement District, and
that the same are correct;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE.IT.RESOLYED BY THE CITY.COUNCIL.OF THE CITY.OF FAYETTEILLE,.ARKANSAS:
That said Plans and said report..be, and.the..same_are..hereby gpproved and adopted, and that
said improvement be constructed according tosaid_plans.,.and at a cost not to exceed, exclu-
sive of interest charges,and inclusive of.contingencies,. the sum of $18,626.42.

The Reading of
The Minutes of the meeting of July 6th, 1926 was waived, and postponed to the next regula
meeting.
The application of the Continental Oil Cpmpgny for a permit to build an Oil and Gasolin
Station at the corner of College and Lafayett, was filed;and also a formal protest signed by
a number of citizens, resident in that locality. the claims of the Oil Company were presente
by a representative , and the plea of the objectors was presented by Attorney W.N.Ivie;
following which Alderman Price moved that the application be denied. This motion was second
by Alderman Harding and received the following vote, ayes Aldrmen Phillips, Price, Harding,
Drake, Bynum, Scott; nays Alderman Watson; absent and not voting Alderman Jones, and was
declared passed by the Mayor.
On account of the illness of the Hon. W.H.Rollins, Police Judge, the Mayor suggested the
appointment of an Acting Police Judge, whereupon Alderman H".'•moved that Col. C.F.
