RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the preservation of the pavement along School avenue in
the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,that curbs and gutter`s�'•ahall be constructed along said
street from Dickson Street to Center Street;
WHEREAS,some of the owners of property abutting on said,School avenue have constructed

SECTION ONE: That the City.Clerk.of.the City of.Fayetteville, Arkansas, be, and he
is hereby directed to issue notices to.the,owners..of Lots.in_Blocks.Five (5), Six (6), Nine
(9), Ten (.10),.and Nineteen (19) abutting on School avenue, and along which corbs and gutta
ters have not been constructed„ directing said owners to construct such curbs and gutters
within 30 days from the date of the service of said notices upon said.owners or agents
thereof.
SECTION TWO:That in case any of said owners refuse or fail to comply with the re-
quirement set forth in Section One hereof, the City of Fayetteville may contract with some
suitable Terson to construct said curbs and gutters;p after first having given ten (10) days
notice of their intention to do so, and the cost thereof together with t81x (6%) per cent
penalty shall be charged against said owners and shall constitute a lien against said pro-
perty under the provisions of Section 7748, Crawford '& Moses Digest of the laws of the
ShAte of Arkansas.
SECTION THREE:That this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after ib
passage and approval, and that all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith
be, and the same are hereby repealed..

Based upon the estimates od our Engineer, the estimated cost of our improvement is
$23,813.80 Dollars.

WHEREASsat a meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas „ held on
the 24th dap[ of May, 1926, there was presented to said Council by B.R.Davidson, Stirling P:
Price and W.J.Lewis as the Board of Improvement of Improvement District Number T,jirty-One
of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansaz,their report, together with plans of the work to be
done in the construction of improvement contemplated by said..Improvement District and the
said report having been read in open meeting of said Council and said plans having been
exhibited to said Council and to each memmber thereof.,.and.._it.appearing from said plans
that the tonal cost of said improvement, exclusive of -interest -charges, is the sum of
Twenty -Three Thousand Eight Hundred Thirteen -($23,813.00) Dollars, and that the said
Council being satisfied that the plans are feasible and practicable and that the same are
correct,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL..OF THE.CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS

The Gibson Oil Company presented a request for permission to out the curb to provide for
a drive-in at their property located.on.the...S corner of.Block 26, on Mountain Street.
On motion the matter was referred to_a..committee.composed of Aldermen Scott and Phillips
and the City.Engineer, for investigation and report.
copy of a resolution passed by the Board of..managers_of the City Water Plant and by th
Commissioners was read to the Council, urging the acceptance of the Street known
as Government Avenue. After some discussion -of -the -matter, Alderman Jones moved that the
City of Fayetteville Arkansas accept the proposal of the War Department of 'the United
States to convey said Street by Quit -Claim Deed to said City. Alderman Watson seconded the

emotion which received the following vote; ayes Ald rmen Drake, Bynum, Jones Watson,* nays

passed by the Mayor . -
Mr. Webb presented the plan which has been agreed to by owmers of property along Uni-
versity Street for paving that portion of said Street running -South from Dickson Street
to the Appleby Canning Plant, and requested the Council to take action in the matter of
paving the portion which adjoins the Evergreen_.Cemetery. After some discussion Alderman
Phillips moved that the Mayor, with_the.assis.tance.of.two Others, to be selected by him,
present the matter to the various..Civic... Bmdies.of. the -City., setting forth the proposition
that the Council would appropriate one-half said cost if the remainder could be raised in
some other manner.This motion was duly seconded by Alderman Jones and received the unani-
mous vote of the members present.
The claim of Mr. Sties for re -imbursement for expense incurred in Pepairing his Sewer
connection, was denied on the ground that the liability does not apply to the City, but
to the Sewer Improvement District Number One, if to any organization.
In response to the appeal of property owners along the North side of Maple Street, between
Wilson Avenue andVandeventer, it was ordered that the Engineer so locate the line for
sidewalks at said place as to preserve the shade trees so far as possible, and without
inconvenience to the public. This action was had on motion by Alderman Jones, seconded
by Alderman Watson, and passed by the unanimous vote of the members present.
The Mayor, a eting for the Committee in -charge of the Matter, reported the progress in
securing adequate passenger facilities, and.presented_a drawing ,.with the floor plans
of the proposed new Station. On motion by Alderman Phillips, seconded by Ald erman Drake
and passed unanimously, the report was approved, and the Committee continued.
The request of M. Baum for permission to erect a building within the Fire limits, which
was not in compliance with the building Code, was denied.
On motion by Alderman Drake seconded'by Alderman Watson and passed by the unanimous vote
of the members present, and so declared by.the Mayor, the Clerk was directed to notify
the Commissioners of RWater Improvement District Number ;Two; that Ordinance Number 602
passed and approved May 3rd, 1926 prohibits the Board of Managers of the City Water
Plant from permitting any connection to be made with the mains of said Water plant, unless
the grades shall have first been established by the City Engineer of the City of Fayette-
ville, Arkansas, and unless the plans shall have been approved by said Engineer.

WHEREAS, Government Avenue from Prairie Avenue to National Cemetery is owned by the United
States Governmemt; and
WHEREAS,said Avenue has been maintained.by the City. -of Fayetteville within,the City limits
and
WHEREAS, by Act of Congress approved Marhh 3,.1925, the War Department has been authorized
to convey by quit claim deed such property -to the'City of Fayetteville;and
WHERESS,the City of Fayetteville now holds a number of-revo-cable licenses in connection
with this property; and
WHEREAS, it is more desirable that the City of Fayetteville have full control of this
street, 1J
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE -CITY OF-FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the proposal of the .Quarter Master General, Washington D.C., under date of April 23,
1926,to Quarter Master , 2nd and Arsenal Street, St. Louis,-.Mo..,be and the same is hereby
accepted, subject to the conditions as set out under such Act of Congress as hereinbefore

Alderman Phillips introduced the following ordinance,declaring the finding of the Council
which was read the first time.
Alderman Drake moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second
reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Watson, and received the following vote;
Aldermen Phillips, Drake, Bynum, Jones, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not
Aldermen Harding and Price. The Mayor declaedd the -motion -passed. -.The Ordinance was read
the second time. Alderman Phillips then moved that.the.Rules.be-fur.ther suspended and the
ordinance placed on its third reading and.final passage. This.motion.was seconded by Alder-
man Jones and received the following vote; ayes -Aldermen -Drake, Phillips, Bynum, Jones-,
Scott, Watson; nays none; absenr.and not voting Aldermen Hard&ng.and Price. The Mayor de-
clared the motion passed. The Ordinance was read the third time.. The Mayor them announced
