REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD APRIL 19th, 1926.
The Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Jones, Phillips, Price Scott,Watson; absent
Alderman Harding.
The minutes of the two meetings held on April 12th were read and approved.
The accounts of the Street Cleaners, Jim Mitchell $18,.and Andrew Munds $24.00, together
with the bills listed below were allowed, and on motion -duly made and passed and so de -
Glared by the Mayor, were ordered paid.and.the.Clerk..was insbructed to issue warrants
forX the same... Henry Barton $37.50; John Zillah.$$17.50; Highway -Appliance Co. $125.00;

The matter of meeting the obligation.of the.City to Wall Street Improvement Dis
was.referred to the Chairman of the Finance Committee for report at the next regular meet-
ing of the Council.
Alderman Jones moved that the City Council of the City of Fayetteville does heartily en-
dorse the movement designed to secure the adoption of an amendment to the State Consti-
tution permitting Cities to issue bonds for making permanent imporvements, and appeals to
the citizens to sign the petition for the initiating of said amendment. Alderman Watson
seconded the motion which received the fol owing vote;.ayes.Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Jones,
Phillips, Price, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Harding, and was
declared passed by the Mayor.
Alderman Price introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption. Alderman

RESOLUTION.

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED " A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE EMPLOYMENT OF ADDITIONAL MOTOR-
CYCLE PATROLMAN FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT".
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of.Fayetteville, Arkansas ;
SECTION ONE; That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed -to employ one (1) additional
Motor Cyclr Patrolmmn for the Police Department of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas , at
a salary not to exceed One Hundred Twenty-five Dollars per month,the person selected to
furnish his own machine and the upkeep of the same:
SECTION TWO: That the day Police force shall cbes6ompoRed of one (1) Chief of Police, two
motor cycle patrolmen and one (1) sanitary police;
SECTION THREE: That this resolution be in force from and after its passage and all resoluti
or parts thereof in conflict herewith be, and the sa me are hereby, repealed.

Alderman introduced thar_ Ordinance providing for the licensing of Restaurants, which was
read the first time. Alderman Phillips moved that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinan
placed on its second.reading. This Motion.was seconded by Alderman Drake and received the
following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake, Jmnes', Phillips, Price, Scott, Watson; nays
none; absent and not votibg Alderman Harding, and was declared passed by the Mayor.
The ordinance was read the second time. Alderman Price then moved that the Rules be
suspended and the ordinance placed on its third reading and -final passage. This motion was
seconded by Alderman Phillips, and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Drake,
Jones, Phillips, Pelee, Scott, Watson; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Harding

and was declared passed by.the Mayor.. The Mayor then announced the question before the

ORDINANCE N0. 605.
AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED " AN..ORDINANCE_TO PRESCRIBE AND
REGULATE THE CITY LICENSE FOR RESTAURANTS WITHIN THE CITY_.OF.FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS."
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
That hereafter the license fee required for running or operating of each res-
taurant in the City'of Fayetteville, Arkansas shall be as follows;
Perr annum $25.00
Per Six Months ....................$15.00.
The word_"Restaurant"as used in this..ordinance... shall mean and does mean any public
place furnishing prepared or cooked food and serving at tables,exclusive of lunch counter,
ten (10) or more people.
SECTION TWO:
I That this ordinance shall not be construed as repealing any part of Ordinance
Number 393, except where same may be in conflict herewith.
SECTION THREE:
That this ordinance take effect and be in -force from and after itd passage,
approval and publication.
Passed and approved this 19th day of April, 1926.

On motion duly made and passed, and so declared by.the Mayor, the City Engineer was
directed to prepare and.furnish to the Council estimates of the cost of different routes
for a Western entrance into the Camp Grounds and the City Park.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned.
