PRESENT: The Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Drake, IvIintun, Phillips, Price; absent Aldermen Harding and Wages. MINUTES: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS: j The accounts of the street sweepers together with the following bills against the City, having been approved by the Auditing Committee, were ordered paid and the Clerk was i i directed t6 issue warrants for the same, on motion duly made and passed, and so declared i by the Mayor; Jim Mitchell, .$,18.00; Andrew Munds $24.00; Tropical Paint and Oil Company 025.72; �#-XIXXXX#11 Election Commissioners $,119.50;Fayetteville,Democrat x}72.12; Pollard -Pettigrew Abstract Co. $15.00; ROCI{ STREET PAVEMENT: filderman Price moved that the City Council pledges to the citizens on Rock Street between Block and Church that the expense of paving the intersection of the North-South Alley in Block 31 with said Rock Street shall be paid by the City if and when they shall pave said section of Rock Street. Alderman Ivlintun seconded the mot ion which received the following votr, ayes Aldermen Drake, Mintun, Phillips, Price; nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen Harding and Wages, and was declared passed by the Mayor. SIDEVIALK GRADE; At the request. of H.W.Shaffer,.the City Engineer was directed to -establish the grade for a sidewalk along the North side of Watson Avenue between St. Charles Street and Thompson Street, on motion duly made and passed, and so declared by the Mayor. FAIR: On motion duly made and passed it was ordered that all carnival and Tent Show h 1 11813 rights and privileges within the City of Fayetteville, be granted to the Washington County Fair during the last three days of September,and the first day of October, 1926, SOUTH COLLEGE ANNEX HEARING: The time for the hearing of the petition for the annexation of certain territory to South College Avenue Improvement District Number One of the City od Fayetteville, Arkansas, being arrived, the Council procee ded to the consideration of said petition. Opportunity having been given to any npersons who wished to be heard in the matter, and after due investigation, Alderman Piiintun introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. This motion was seconded by Alderman Price and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Mintun, Phillips, Price; nays none; absent and not voting Aldermen Harding and Wages. The Mayor declared the motion passed and the resolution adopted. A copy is as foll lows; RESOLUTION: 1" 17HEREAS, a petition claim ing to represent a majority in value of the owners of real property on South college Avenue from the South line of Rock Street to the South line of jennings Addition to the Citv of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was duly filed wdth the City Counci of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, on the 8th day of February, 1926, asking that said property be created into an improvement District, to be known as Annex Number One to South College Avenue Improvement District dumber One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas; WHEREAS; said City Council of said City of Fayetteville, .Arkansas,did, on the 22nd day of March, 1926,order and direct the City Clerk of said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to give notice by publication for two weeksin some newspaper issued and having a general criculation in the City of Fayetteville, W shinfton County, Arkansas, that such petition had been filed, and that it would be considered at a meeting of the City Council of said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to be held at the Mayor's office on the 12th day of April, 1926, at 7;30 P.I. and that all property owners of said Improvement District might appear before said City Council and show cause for or against such annexation; 6.giEREAS; said notice was so published by said Clerk, in accordance with law; WHEREAS: and that persons signing said said time for said hearing has arrived, and said hearing has been duly and properly had; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYE'I"I'EVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION 0"E: That, after careful consideration, the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, finds that there is a totA3 assessed valuation of $27,095.00 of real property within said District, according to the last assessment nn file in the office of the County 91 Clerk ofWashington County, Arkansas; and that persons signing said petition own real property within said. District of the assessed valuation of $20,535.00, College Avenue Improvement District according to said assessment. SECTION TC/0: That it is the finding, of said City Council of said City of Fayetteville, Arkan- sas, that the majority in assessed valuation of owners of real property witiuin Annex Number One to South College Avenue Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,have signed said petition; and the said District is hereby formed by said City Council of said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. SECTION THREE: In consideration of said above mentioned petition, the said City Council of the said City of Fayetteville, P_rkansas,has been guided by the certificate of the Circuit CxY Clerk of said Countyof Washington,as to the ownership of said real property, and by the certificate of the County CleiZk of said County, as to the assessed valuation of said real property. O '17 SECTION FOUR: That all resolution and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be, and the same are,hereby repealed, and this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval..
