Members present, excepting Aldrman Phillips, Alderman Phillips was chosen President
pro tempore.
The President pro tempore then announced the purpose of the meeting to be the
informal consideration of the proposed Occupation Tax. The Council accordingly proceeded
to the diseussion of various features of the proposed measure, in an effort to arrive
at a just and equitable distribution of charges for the various callings of the citizens
It becoming evident that the consideration of the various items could not be finish
ed at one sitting, Alderman Price moved that the Council adjourn to meet on the 20th of
January,' at 7;30 PAM. foil further consideration of the matter. This motion was duly
seconded and passed.

ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD JANUARY 20th, 1926.
Pursuant to adjournment, the City Council met at 7;30 P.M. of January 20th 1926
PRESENT; The Clerk; Aldermen Harding Drake, Phillipe Price, Wages, absent the
Mayor, and Alderman Mintun.
The meeting was called to order by the Clerk, and in the absemce of the Mayor,
Alderman Phillips was nominated and elected to be President pro tempore.
The consideration of the proposed Occupation Tax was taken up , and the list of
Items as submitted by the Finance Committee, was gone over, and the report of the
said Committee was announced ready for submission to the Council.
' The members present, desiring that the matter should receive the full consideration
of all the Council and the Mayor, further consideration of the measure was deferred to
the next regular meeting.
On motion the Council adjourned.

MAYOR'S REPORT:
The mayor made a brief oral report of the proceedings of the Convemtion
of Mapors at Little Rock, seting forth as the two leading features thereof;- First the
proposal to submit a constitutional amendment providing for the issuance of bonds by
Cittes for public improvements; Second; the proposal to attempt to secure legislation
terminating the "Indeterminate Permits" under which Public Utilities are now operating
DYKE'S APPLICATION:
for permission to cut pavement on Dickson Street for sewer connectio
was granted, to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer, and at a time when
the asphalt plaht was in operation so that the street could be at once repaired. This

17TATER CONNECTION:
The Board of Watre Managers was granted permission to cut Center
Street Pavement to make connection with the Water Main.
CONTINENTAL OIL CO.
Application of the Continental Oil Co. of Kansas City to cut the curb
and pidewalk on Dickson Street for driveways to their Filling Station was denied, and the
Clerk was instructed to communicate this decision the the Company, stating that the cX0
reasons for this action X#1 were the heavy pedestrian traffic on this walk and the dan-
ger of flooding the properties below, from the flood waters which flow down Dickson Stre
FIRE ENGINE WARRANTS:
A proposition from the American LaFrance Fire Engine Co, to discoun
the warrants held by them was presented. Alderman Phillips moved that Alderman Drake, Xy
the Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Council be authorized tocheck up the calcu-
lations of the Company, and if found correct, to settle t)4�1 (ifi�l with the Company by
check on the City of Fayetteville Funding Account. This motion was duly seconded by

ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS REPORT:
The Board of Electrical Examiners reported that Alpha L. Goss, Lee H. Rogers
Henry B. Curtis and Ira Culberson had passed satisfacctory examinations in their line
of work and recommended that Licenses be issued to them to engage in the work of Elec-
tric wiring and installation in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, for aper66d of One
year from January lst, 1926, upon the payment by them of the fee of $15.00, as requir-
ed by the Ordinance in such case made and provided. Alderman Harding moved that the li-
cense be so issued. This motion was seconded by Alderman Mintun and received the unanime

PETITION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME:
Residents on School Avenue presented a oetition for an extension of time for
building of curbs and gutters alnng North School Avenue. No action was taken. 7

WHEREAS, on the 23rd day of November, 1925 the City Council of the City of Fayettevill
Arkansas,by an ordinance, number 586, duly passed, approved and published, appropriated
the sum of Four Thousand Dollars in City 17arrants, to fall due as set forth in said Ord-
inance, dor the purpose pf paying for the intersections of the streets within South College
' Avenue Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, rkansas;
WHEREAS, said warrants have never been issued, and said Ordinance appropriating the
same has been duly repealed on this date;
WHEREAS, it would have been necessary to discount said Warrantd in the sum of One
' Thousand Dollars, om account of their due dates;
WHEREAS?, there is now to the credit of the City of Fayetteville Funding account
sufficient money to make an appropriation of Three Thousand Dollars in cash for the above
mentioned improvement, and said City of Fayetteville,prior to October, 1924, pledged itself
to make such appropriation to pave said intersections;
NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT RRDeINIVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS

That, in lieu of the warrants mentioned in Ordinance number 586, passed and

money to appropriate the sum of `2,000.00 in cash for the purpose above mentioned; and

FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS."
WHEREAS,
the majority in value of the property holders owning property adjoining the Xpu '
locality to be affected, and situated in Annex Number One to Sewer Improvement District
Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,organized for the purpose of construct-
ing and maintaining an adequate sewer system for the benefit of property owners within the
territory described.in their petition, have petitioned the City Council of the City of
--FVyetteville, Arkansas, for the construction of said improvement, and that the cost thereof '
shall be charged and assessed against the reall property within said District, according
to the benefits to be received, and
HVIEREAS,
said benefits received by each lot, or block or parcel of real property

The time having arrived fir the hearing of the,Second Petition for the
formation of City Park Improvement District, it was ordered that said hearing now be had.
And all persons having been heard who wished to be heard; Alderman Wages introduced the

within said District, according to the last assessment on file in the office of the County
Clerk of Washington County, Arkansas; and that persons signing said oetition own real
property within said District of the assessed valuation of $899,965.00, according to said
assessment.
SECTION TWO:
That -:it is the finding of said City Council of said City of Fayetteville,
rkansas, that the majority in assessed valuation of owners of real property within City'
Park Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arka.nsas,have signed 0
said petition,and that the said Improvement District is hereby formedby said City Council
of said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
SECTION THREE:
In consideration of said above mentioned petition, the said City Council
ofsaid City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, have been guided by the certificate of the Circuit
Clerk ofsaid County,as to the ownership of said real property, and by the certificate of t
the County Clerk of said County, as.to the assessed valuation of said real property.

Mayor declared the motion passed and the resolution adopted. A copy is as follows;-
RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVrD BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
That J. R. Bates, H. L. Tuck and M. M. Collier, three owners of real property
within the limits of City Park Improvement DistricttNumber One of the City of Fayetteville
Arkansage,be and they are hereby appointed as the Board of Improvement for said District.
SECTION TWO:
That this resolution shall take effect and'be in force from and after its pX0
passage and approval.
