The hearing on the second petition therefor be continued to December 28th, 1925. This
motion was duly seconded by Alderman Drake, and received the following vote; ayes
Aldermen Drake, Harding, Phillipso. Price, Wages; nays none; absent and not voting
Alderman Mintun, and was declared passed by the Mayor.
No further business appearing, the Council adjourned to December, 28th, 1925.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD JANUARY 4th, 1926.
PRESENT: The Mayor, Clerk; Aldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun, Price Wages; absent Alderman '
Phillips.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
BILLS: The accounts of Jim Mitchell $36.00; and Andrew Munds $48.00 for street Cleaning
for two weeks together with the following bills against the City, to -wit; J.C.Massie for
Stamps $1.00;Democrat Pub. Co. $70.80; John Zillah $55.00; Democrat Printing Co. $3.50;
Wages Bros. $1.46;W.H.. Rollins, $3.00; S: H: Guinn $47.00; Adams Flower Shop $15.00; Bigger
Bros. Lbr Co. 3125; South-west Power Co. $396.25; Crowe Name Plate Mfg, Co. 9,137.38 C.F.
Armistead $9.86; C.J. Fuller $10.00; James Dinwiddie $30.00; J.W. Shelley $6.75; Fayetteville
Lbr & Cement Co. $5.00, which had been approved by the Auditing Committee, were allowed and
on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Price were ordered paid and the Clerk
directed tm issue warrants for the same, the motion having received the unanimous vote of
all the members present. '
REPORTS: The reports of the City Collettor, the Police Judge; the Fire Chief and the City
Clerk having been presented Alderman Harding seconded by Alderman Wages moved that the
reports be received and filed; This motion was passed by the unanimous vote of the members
present.
FREE AUTO LICENSE: On motion by Alderman Price seconded by Alderman Harding and passed by the '
unanimous vote of the Council the mayor was authorized to furnish the City Collector with
a list of City Officiald, elected and appointed to whom free Auto License should be granted.
CITY STREET TAX: On motion by Alderman Price, seconded by Alderman Drake the City Collector
was authorized to devise ways and means for the more efficient and systematic collection
of Street Tax due the City under the State laws.

A communication from John Carlisle was read to the Council, but no action was taken,

FIRE BENEFIT: Alderman Price moved that the Fire Department be granted the privilege of
putting on a benefit Show, free from the City Tax thereon.Alderman Mintun seconded the motion
which received the unanimous vote of the Council.
C.D.BATES was present and rewuested action of the Council in the matter of the grade of the
sidewalk adjacent to his property, because of the great expense of removing enough of a very
hard rock he had encountered in his excavation. The matter was referred to the City Engineer
with the suggestion of a suitable adjustment,
WATER IMPROVEMENT NO 2. The report of the Commissioners of Water Improvement District No, 2
was presented, whereupon Alderman Harding moved that the report be received, filed and spread
' of record. This motion was seconded by Alderman Drake and received the following Vote; ayes;
Aldermen Drake, Harding Mintun, Price Wages; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman
Phillips and was declared passed by the Myor. The report was as follows;-

Report of the Board of Commissioners of Water Improvement District Number Two of the
City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
To The Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
We, the Board of Commissioners of Water Improvement District Number Two of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas, herewith submit the plans and specifications odf the proposed Water
improvement, and the estimate of the cost of the same.
We ahve secured estimates from local hardware dealers as to the cost of the water pipe,
in the sizes and quantities necessary, and secured estimates as to the cost of the labor
necessary in this work from local contractors engaged in this class of work, The Plan
proposed for this improvement is attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A" to this report,
The total estimated cost of construction, exclusive of interest, and inclusive of contin-
gencies is $5,940.87.
To assess the benefits against the diffeeent Lots, Blocks and parcels of real estate yfL \
within the district, we request that ,your Honorable Body appoint, by resolution, three
qualified electors of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas, as a Board of Assessors.

ACCEPTANCE OF PLANS: Alderman Drake moved that the proposed Plan for the construction of
the improvement in Wktre Improvement District NMmber Two be accepted, provided the Report
be first so changed that 6 -inch mains shall be used where the report porposes to use 4 -inch
and that 4 -inch mains be used where the report proposes to use 2 -inch pipes. This motion
was seconded by Aldemman Harding and received the fol owing vote; ayes Ald rmen Drake .
Harding, Mintun, Price Wahes; nays none; absent and not votinf Aldermen Phillips, ans was
declared passed by the Mayor.
BOARD OF ASSESSORS: Alderman Harding introduced the following resolution and moved its
adoption. This motion was seconded by Alderman Price and received the following vote;
ayes lldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun, Price, Wages; nays none, absent and not voting Alderman
Phillips, and was declared passed by the Mayor.

1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That A.B.Upton, J.P.Scott and U.L.Smelser, three qualified electors of the City of Fayettevil
Arkansas, b�/ are hereby appoimted to constitute a Board of Assessment of the I 'benefits to be
received by each lot, block or other subdivision of land, within Water Improvement District
Number Two of the City of Fayetteville, "%rkansas. C.T.Harding.
Oassed and approved this 4th day of Januaryl/, 1926.

Alderman Wages moved that the Mayor and the City Attorney be authorized to go the Little
Rock to deliver the recently issued Bonds of the City to'the Purchasers, W.H.Elkins $c Co.
A;derman Harding seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the membbrs present

It was ordered thAt for the year 1926 the manage ment of the vardou
