On motion by Alderman Wages, seconded by Alderman Mintun,and carried by the unanimous; vote of the Council,H.S.Price was elected as acting Clerk. On motion by Alderman Phillips, seconded by Alderman Drake, and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council, the accounts of the Street sweepers, Jim Mitchell, -"18.00; and Andrew s 1%funds, .24.00;also the bills liste below, were allowed and ordered paid. Bills. J.I.Holcomb r.ifg. Co. 30.07; Bigger Brothers Constr. Co. $j 14.00; Democrat Pub. Co. x.8.70; Jess ':.alters $9.60; Will Poor $9.60; American Railway Expr. Co. $3.4,4. T On motion by Alderman Drake, seconded by Aldcrman I1kintun, and duly passed, the following building permits were grantea; Jack Horner, residence, '_crest Ave. B.F.Curran, Store, YJest Dickson Street. A communication from the San Fransisco Faioway Co was read and ordered filed. ' The Board of Commissioners of south C ollege Avehue Improvement District Number One of the City of 'Fayetteville, Arkansas presented t hair second report which was ordered received and filed. i Alderman Drake presented a resolution approving plans on second report of the Board of Commissioners of South Colleg A venue Improvement District, and moved its adoption. This motion was seconded by Alderman rice and received the following vote; ayes Alder- men Drake, Harding, Mintun, Phillips, Price, Wages; nays none; absent and not voting none, and as declared pdssed by the Mayor and the resolution adopted. A copy is as follows;- (5- RESOLUTION. i;H REAS, at a meeting of the City Council of the City of ayetteville, Arkansas,held on th the loth day of July, 1925,there was presented to said Council, by C.B.Franke, Ivan M. Mayes and I.r.Guisinger,as the Board of Improvement of South College Improvemen$ District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,their report, together with the plans of the work to be / done in the construction of the improvement contemplated by said Improvement District,and the said report having been read in open meeting of said Council,and said plans having been exhib- ited to said Council, and to each member thereof,with a full and complete explanation of all the details thereof, and it appearing,from said plans, that the estimated.cost of the construc- tion o: said improvement,exclusive of inteest charges, and inclusive of contingencies, is the sum of X26,490.77 and the said Council b� keing satisfiedthat said plans will best subse-rve the purpose of said Improvement District, and that the same are correct; ' NOW,THEREFOREiBE IT RE'-OLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 07 TIC, CITY OF FAYETT^IVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE, That the said plans and,said report be, and the same are hereby approve and adopt- ed,and that said improvement be constructedaccording to said plans,and at a cost not to exceed exclusive of interest charges, and inclusive of contingencies,the sum of $26,490.77. SECTION TWO; That the' Board of Assessment of said District,who have heretofore been duly appoin7�- ed and qualifiedas such, are hereby authorized -to make a new aesessment,based upon these plans and this report. SECTION THR 2; That all resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be, and the s— same are,hereby repealed, and this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval N.F.Drake. ' The special Committee on Finance was granted further time. 0 Alderman Drake moved that the City :�ngineer be instructed to establish a grade for a side- walk alol the west 6o feet of the North end of Lot 1, Block 3, in University Addition,and that the Street Commissioner do the necessary excavating. Alderman Harding seconded the motion, which receive the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding,lnintun, Phillips, Price, Nage,(- and was declared passed by the Mayor, On motion by Alderman Wages seconded by Alderman Phillips and carried by the unanimous vots— ' of the Council the City Engineer aas directed to establish grade for sidewalk along the East side of Church Street between Spring and Meadow Streets, An Ordinance %roviding for increasing the Doard of.Commis•.ioners for the Sewer District from 3 memb rs to 5 members was introduced and read the first time. Alderman ', iTwe that -the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading This motion was seconded by rld_rman PlAw and received the following Vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, ,Sintun, Phillips, Price, Wages; nays none; absent and not voting none and was declared p s ed by the Pdayor. The Ordinance was read he second time. Alderman P4 iPS moved the the Mules be further suspended/,and the(�e placed on its third reading and final passage. This motion was seconder by Ald rm and received the fo following vote; ayes, Harding, Phillips, ;Mages nays, Lrake, Liintun, Price,absent and not voting, none.The mayor declared the motion lost.
