REGULAR i.IEETING 01' `T'Hs CI TY COUNCIL HELD JUNE: 29th, 1925.
Present and presiding, Alderman Harding, President protempore, th Clerk, -.Aldermen Drake,
Mintun, Phillips, Price, Wages.; absent the Mayor. r
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. ,
The accounts of the street sweepers, Jim Mitchell, $18.00, and Andrew L4unds, $24.00 were
presented and Alderman Price moved that they be allowed and the Clerk directed to issue warrants
for the s:.me. This motion was seconded by Ald rman Idintun and receive the following vote; ayes
Aldermen Drake, Hard ing, Mintun, Phillips, Price Wages and wa s declared passed by the President
pro tempore.
Alderman Idintun moved that the bills against the City which had been approved by the Auditing
' Committee be allowed and the Clerk directed to issue warrants for the same. This motion"Was secon
ded by Alderman Drake and received the follo:iing vote; ay s Aldermen Drake, Har ing, ISintun, Phil
lips, Price, i'iages and was declared passed by the Pre idemt Pro tempore.
Bills;
McNeil & Olson Company, $43.90; Kelly -Phipps Oil Co, $ 75.00;J.E.Skelton '$20.00; E.V.Bird
Construction Co. $,00; John Zillah, $75.00..
The bids for the construction of the storm sewers :;ere presented and opened in the presence
of the Council. As to their totals they were as follows;
Palmer $1666.70; Phoenix Construction Company $1638.00; Lehman Brothers $1565.30;
E.K.Hooper, $1500.00; E.V.Bird Construction Company $1029.90.
Alderman Price moved that the Bid of the E.V.Bird Construction Company be accepted. A lderman
Mintun seconded the motiom which received the follo wing vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Ilintu
Phillips, Price, Wages, and ::as declared passe by the President pro tempore.
Alderman Mintun move. that the street "ommissioner, Mr. John Zillah be allowed the sum of $30
for his services as such to date and that the Clerk be directed to is ue a warrant for the same;
and that the 'Street Commissioner be allowed the sum of $2.50 per day od NINE hours for all servic
hereafter rendere the City by him. Alderman Phillips secoaded the motion which received the
following vote;ayes Aldermen Trake, Harding, Idintun,Phillips Price Stages and was declared passed
by the P resident pro tempore.
On motion permission was granted to Miss Elizabeth.sllis to drive a car on the streets of the
Oity•
Alderman Fries introduced a resolut ion and moved its adoption. This motion was seconded by A
Alderman Wages and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake. Harding, Mintun, Phillips, P
Price, Wages, and was declared passed by the President pro tempore. A copy is as follows; -

' WHERRAS'the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is now the owner of a certain Lot, being Lot Num
ber Thirteen (13) in Block Number Sixteen (16) Ori inal Town (now City) of Fayetteville, Arkansas
o}i which lot there is now located a two story j6#1 X#1 brick building;
.:H.�REAS, Alpha L. Goss and Lee H. Rogers are now the owners of a certain lot adjoining and
lying immediately South of said above mentioned Lot Number Thirteen•(13) Block Number Sixteen
(16),and desire to erect thereon a brie k building, using the South wall of the building on said
Lot Number Thirteen (13) as the North w all of their contemplated building;
Whereas, it has been mutually agreed byand )6eX## between al -1 parties concerned taht said
South wall of the building on said Lot Number Thirteen (13) can be so used by said Alpha L. Goss
and Lee H. Rogers,for the consideration hereinafter named;
NOW,THE'REFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTE'VILLE,ARKA.NSAS;
SECTION ONE;
That for and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred and Fifty Dollars in
cash,to be pid by Alpha L..Goas and Lee H. Rogers to the Treasurer of the City -of Fayetteville, A
Arkansas,and the making of certain -repairs hereinafter mwntioned',the Mayor and the City Clerk of
the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,are hereby authorized and instructed to execute a Quit claim d
deed,conveying to the said Alpha L. Goss and Lee H. Rogers,their heirs and assigns an undivided
one half.interest inand to the brick wall on the South side of Lot Number Thirteenf13) in Block
Number 4xteen (16) Orgginal Town ( Now City ) Of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
SECTION T30;
The repairs above refer ed to and which constitute a part of the consideration
herein,shall be the taking out of two windows in said wall,filling the vacant places made thereby
with brick and mortar- it being understood that the said Alpha L. Goss and Lee H. Rogers may
have said windows for doing said work and furnishing the material therefor.
"ECTION THREE;
This resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage
and approval.

The matter of permitting Goss -Rogers to connect with the sewer line in the Fire House was
referred to the Chairman of the Fire Committee ;pith power to act.
On motion duly put and carried the City ngineer was dirrcted to establish the grade for the
alleys in Block 16,
The City Atorney r ported that from his investigation �IX of the matter he is of the opinion
thatsuch portions of the Tailway right of way as have been commonly usen. as public streets for
a long period of time, can not be closed by the Rialway against such use.
A building permit was granted to harz•y Ewalt for the erection of a residence on Lafayette.

The re ort of,X the street sweepers for the week ending July 4th, wa^ for 6 days each; Jim
Mitchell $?18.00; and Andrew Munds x24.00. Alderman Price moved that the Clerk be directed to
issue warrants for these amounts Alderman Drake seconde the motion which received the follow
ing vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun, Phillips, Price, Wages; nays none; and was de-
clared passed by the Press tnt pro tempore.
Alderman Mintun moved that the bills listed below be allowed and the Clerk directed to

The following building permits were granted subject to the approval of the City engineer;
13rs Fannie Taylor, residence,corner of university and Williams;
P.R.Green, residence, Lots 5,6, Block 12, Gunter Addition. ,
On motion by Alderman Price, seconded by Alderman Phillips and duly passed, the City En-
gineer was directed to make a survey of the streets wholly or partly on the Railway Right -o f-
wayfor the information and guidance of the City Attorney in the preparation of an Ordinance
with reference to the same.
The Chairman of the Street Committee was dir ected to prepare a plan for a systematic
surveyto ascertain who are liable for "Road Duty" or personal Street tax.
The Committee on funding the indebte:ness of the City was granted an extension of time.
Alderman Phillips moved that the Chairman of the Street Committee be authorized to con-
tract for the instalation ofa drinking fountain in the City Wagon Yard,and arrange for icing
the same. Alderman ivIintun seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen
Drake, Harding, Pdintun, Phillips, Price, Wages; nays none, and was declared passed b, the
President pro tempore.(The motion included a clause limiting the expense so as not t8 exceed
$50.00)
No further business appearing the Council adjourne
