Present; the Mayor Clerk, Aldermen Drake; Harding, i••ltintun, Phillips, Price,,Wages., The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved . The Reports of the Police Judge nd the City Collector were received and referred to the Auditing C ommittee. On motion duly made and carried the accounts of the Street sweepers for the week ending aaye30th, Jim Mitchell, $18.00; and Addrew Munds, $24.00 were allowed and the Clerk was directen to issue w._rrant: for the same. All the bills against the City were referred to the Auditing Committee. A request for a light at the X11XI NE corner of evergreen Cemetery was granted and the Chairman Of the light Committee was authorized to have the same installed. A request was received from Mr. A..Budd for the prohibiting of Pop -corn vendors from operating on the Public Square. After some discussion, it was decided to take no immediate action in the matter. On motion by Dr. Drake, seconded by Aldir man Phillips and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council, the Clerk was directed to request the Board of health to follow up all notices to install sewer connections, and report all failures on the part of property holders to obey such orders or notices to the City Attorney to the end that proper legal proceedings may be had to enforce the same. The report of the Fire Chief for the month of May wa p presented and on motion was received and filed. The accounts of the street sweepers to -wit; Jim mitchell !;,18.00; and Andrew Idunds $24.00 were presented :and on motion by Alderman Harding, secohded by Alderman Drake,passed by the Coun oil and so declared by the Mayor were allowed and the Clerk directed to issue w rrants fot the same. The bills listed below were returned as correct by the Auditing Committee *and Alderman Price moved that the same be allowed and the Clerk directed to issue warrants for the s same. Alderman Harding seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drak Harding, ivIintun, Phillips Price, :;ages; nays none; absent none and was dedlared passed by the ma yor. BILLS: Arkansas National Bank, $200.00; '::ages Brothers Constr. Co. 5,6.00; John Zillah, $30.00;S4of Bell Tel, Co. 0,65; Thomas & Son $5.00;,Lewis Bros. Co. X18.15. The following applications for building permits were grantdd,subject to approval by the City Engineer; - Berl Dodd, residence, Duncan Street;.C,Pa mer, Plant for manufacturing Concrete B1 Blocks, C� X#1SX#XX � Spring Street; Cravens & Co. O£tice Building, Center Street.., Ivir. John Zillah.presented an application for the position of Street Commissioner. Alderman, Phillips moved that John Zillah be chosen as Street Commissioner, to receive pay for work done, but at no regular salary. This motion was seconded by Alderman Wages and received the following vote; ayes Aldrmen Drake, Harding, IJiintun, Phillips, Price, Wages, nays none;, absent none; and w was declared passed b the Mayor. Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Price moved that the Chairman of the Street Committee with the City :ngineer beauthorized to contract for, the rounding,of the corners of the sidew lks at the intersection of Rolston and Dickson,and making the neceasary preparation for the moving of the fire hydrant. This motion received the unanimous vote of the Cc uncil,and was declared passed by the Mayor. The proposition of the St. Louis and San Fransisco Railway Co., looking to the improvement o of the passenger and freight facilities at Fayetteville, wa presented to the Council by Mr. B.D Craine of the Committee appointed by the Council to conf.;r with the authorities of said Company in regard to the matter,andw was read to the Council by the Clerk,together with the suggestions of the various Civvic organizations of the City. The blue prints of the proposed improvements were e.lso exhibited to the Council; whereupon Alderman Harding moved that the proposition of th said Railway Company be accepted,and th t the Railway Company be requested to pave the space bet twwen the tracks,instead of using macadam as proposed,to the end that the appearance thereof mig might.be in keeping with with the paved streets adjoining, and the general tidiness and health- fulness of the station improved. This motion wa seconded by _alderman Mintun, and received the f following vote; ::.yes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Idintun, Phillips, Price, mages, nays none., and was declared passed by the Mayor. Alderman Price reported a plan to dispose of the drainage at Dinwiddie's Place on `.:est Maple by the construction of a covered culvert through Dinwiddie's Land. Dinwiddie to pay $100000 of the coet thereof. A 1020 Alderman Harding moved that the Chairman of the Street Committee be authorized to put the pl plan into execution. Alderman Phillips seconded the motion which receive the following vote; ..y ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Idi:ntun, Phillips, Price, Wages; nays none and was declared passed by the Mayor.' On motion by lderm,n Harding, seconded by rlderm_.n hintun and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council, the Chairman of the Street Committee was authorized to contract with A?TS?Byrnes for the removal of the sheds along the -ast side of the City wagon Yard, at a price not to excee $25.00 On motion by Alderman Price,seconded by Alderman Harding and carried by the unanimous vote of the Coumcil the City Attorney was directed to oppose before the Circuit Court, the Petition for the formation of a Fourth Vh__rd as the same is being proposed by Mr. W.I..;hitty. On motion by Alderman Kintun seconded by Alderman Price and carried by the unanimous vote of fhe Council Aldermnn Harding was e¢//y elected to be Acting Mayor during the absence of1jX1 Mayo Mayor Wilsom, effective June 13th, 1925. Present and presiding, Alderman Harding, Acting Mayor; the Clerk, Alderrpen Mintun, Phillips, Price, Wages, Drake; Absent, teh Mayor. On Motion the City engineer was directed to investigate thegrade for.sewer connection for NIr Algie Moore, Alderman Price reported that he had contracted with A.M.Byrnes to remove.the sheds from the east side of the City Vi._gon Yard. Price $25.00. The Reports of the City Collector and the Police Judge were returned by the Auditing Committ and o m motion were ordered filed. A communication from the Commissioners and the Assessors of Douglas Street Improvement Dis- trict Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was read , in which they requested permi sion to withdraw their Assessment Roll and substitute therefor a new As=sessment Roll.
