HomeMy WebLinkAbout1925-05-11 MinutesMCIJ WHEREAS the majority in •value of the property holders owning property adjoining the locality to be af£ected,and situated in West Mountain Street Improvement District Number One of the City o -o£ Fayetteville, Arkansas,organized for the purpose of grading, rolling and paving with Asphaltic Pvvement, the Streets and parts of streets within said West Mountain Street Improvement District Number One of.the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,have petitioned the City Council of the said Cit of .Faybtteville, Arkansas,for the -construction of said improvement,and that the cost thereof shall be charged and assessed against the real property within said District,according to the benefits to be received; and WHLR_:iAS,said benefits received by each lot or block or parcel of real property situated within said District,equals or exceeds the local assessment;and YJHsREAS, the estimated cost of said improvement is $119500.00; NOW,THaREFORE,BE IT ORDAIN ➢ BY `i'H:: CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARYAN SAS: SEC'T'ION ONE: That said several lots, blocks and parcels of real property within said District,be assessed according to the assessment list for said Improvement District,as the same now remains in the office of the Recodder,or City Clerk;and that ten per centum on said lots,blocks and *aca parcels shall be paid annually on or before the first Monday of IJovember until the whole of said local assessment shall be paid. SEC'T'ION TWO: That all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances ih conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby,repealed,and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval and publication. The :._inuted of the previous meeting were read and approved. r W.M.Black presented a request for grade for sidevigik on Oxark Ave. The Clerk was directed to inform Mr. Black that it is the custom of the Council to grant such requests only when petitioned to do so by a majority of the property holders affected. Alderman Harding moved that the bills approved by the Auditing Committee as listed below be allowed and the Clerk directed to issue warrants for the same. This motinn was seconded by Alderman Phillips and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, Mintun, Phillips, Price, Wages; absent and not voting Alderman Drake, and was declared passed by the Mayor. BILLS: Heerwagen Bros. Co. $8.65, and $615.38; American LaFrance Fire Rngine Co. $40.80; Ozark Filling Station $27.85, :,'12.60, and$67.31;Abshier-Bryan Motor Col$5.25;Will Poor$14.70 Jess 'halters $14.70;City Transfer Co. $6.,54; Thomas & Son 75x; Southwest Power Co. $388.15; Jim Mitchell for Street Sweeping $18.00; Andrew IvIunds same $18.00. The reports of the City Collector and of the Police Judge for the Month of April were re- turned by the Auditing Committee,endorsed as correct, and on motion were ordered filed. Alde rman Hading was appointed to serve with the Committee charged with the duty of inve investigating mVx, Black's property as to an adequate outlet therefrom. The Street Committee was directed to confer with Major Davidr,on,and to,report a plan for control of the drainage affecting the davidson property, and report at.the next meeting, The City Engineer was directed to submit a plan for control of the drainage at the Din-, widdie Place on :les$ Maple Street. Alderman 'Sages On request, permit was granted to Miss Jane Moore to drive a car on the streets of the Ci ty, subject to the approval of the Chief of Police. Alderipan Phillips moved that th Rules be r - suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading. BE IT ORD_INED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas; ' SECTION ONE. That the Mayor and City clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be, and they are hereby authorized to issue three(3) warrants,payable to the odder of the Trustees of the City Hos- pital of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, each 9n the sum of Two Thousand ($2,000.00) Dollars, due July 15th,1926, July 15th,. 1927 and July 15th,1928,respectively, and payable only out of the ' City Hospital Fund and from no other Fund of the City of Fayetteville. SECTION TWO. The warrants herein authorized shall be used by the Trustees of.the City Hospital for the construction of an electric, levator,the necessity for which is urgent and vital for the safe- ty of the patients of the Hospital. This motion was seconded by ylderman Harding and received the unanimous vote of the embers present,and was declared passed by the I:;ay or. The mayor appointed Aldermen Harding,and Price and the City Engineer as a Committee to confer with a committee from the Chamber of Commerce with reference to therection of a City Light Plan - The Contract between the City* of Fayetteville and '.Pd.Ratlif ^ Hl_avin expired.,it was moved by ' Alderman Phillips that the contr_ct as formerly existing b_1 renewed for a period of two years from the date of its expiration, April 28th,1925,save and except that paragraphs numbered "d" and ".j" in the Schadule of Fees shall be stticken out and be nul and void.
