Alderman Phillips intrmduced an Ordinance to amen40rdin nee No. 547, which was read the first
time. Alderman Harding moved that the Rules be susp nded and the Ordinance planed on its second
reading. Alderman P6intun seconded the motion which received tha following vote; ayes Aldermen
Harding, IvIintun Phillipsip Price, Wages; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Drake, and was
declared passed by the Mayor.. The Ordinance was read the second time. Alderman Harding then
moved that the Rules be further suspended and the Ordinance placed on its third reading and final
passage. Thi: motion was seconded by Alderman Phillips and received the following vote; ayes
Aldermen Harding, Mintun, Phillips, Price,. Wages; n-.ys none; absent and not voting Alderman Drake
and was declared passed by the Mayor. The Ordinance was read the .third time. The Ntayor then
announced the question before the Council to be Shall the Ordinance pass and called for the vote
thereon, which was as follows; ayes Alderm n Harding, Mintun, Phillips, Price, :!Wages; nays none;
absent and not voting Alderman Drake. The Iuiayor declared the Ordinance passed. A copy is as follo

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Or TH CITY OF FAYET`P VILLi,.1RKANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
That Section Three of Ordinance Number 547 is her by amended to read as follows;
"SECTION THREE: %-
That no per on shall be permitted to cut through,remove or molest the City side-
walk in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,for the purpose of making a drive or entrance to a
Filling Station or for an entrance to any other place of business,except upon the following
conditions;
(a) That a permit be granted bl, the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
in accordrnce with plans submitted to the Council convened. ,
F' (b) That the grade of the drive when constructed shall sbope towards the center of t;
street and shall not be greater than 2 inches in 1 foot.
(c) That no drive shall be constructed in such a manner as will permit flood water to p
leave the natural course on the street and flow upon private property.
(d) That in no case shall a vertical offset be made in a sidewalk in connection with an,.,,
entrance to a gasoline or oil station or to other businesses and any slope made to connect sidewa
walks of different levels shall not exceed the ratio of 15 feet to each 100 feet of sidewalk.
(e)That all walks constructed in the City s'reets or alleys or used as entrance to gaso �
line or oil stations, orto other businesses,shall be constructed of Portland Cement Concrete of.
not less th.n 6 incites in thickness and shall be corrug_ted parallel with the street and at
right angles to the street . Said corrugations shall not be more then 5 inches apart or less than
one forth of an inch in depth."

That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication.

The follpwing i� the action of the Council in confirmation of the appointm:nt^ made by the
Iuiayor as recorded on,page 1012, in the records of this present meeting;
Alderman Price moved that the apptIntment of Col. C.F, rmistead to be City Collector for
the term of two years be approved. Alderman Mintun seconded the motion which received the follo-ai
vote; ayes Aldermen Harding, IuIintun, Price; nays, Aldermen Phillips and F]ages; absent and not vot
ing Alderman Drake, and was declared passed by tha Mayor. Aldermen Phillips and Wages explains
that they voted "No" because of their opposition to the Ordinance under which the appointment was
made.
Alderman Phillips, seconded by Alderman Harding moved that all the other appointments announc
ed by the Mayor be confirmed. This motion received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Harding
Idintun, Phillips, Price, ;gages; nays none; abs nt and not voting Alderman Drake, and was'declared
passed by the I•J..yor.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned to April :0th, 1925. ' o
