The Dyke Lumber Company presented - petition for permission to erect a building in which to
keep and furnish building materials. Alderman Harding moved that the permit be granted,subject to
the approval of the City Engineer. Alderman Dr ake seconded this motion, which received the folle�
lowing vote; ayes, Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson, Minton, Phillips; nays none; absent and not
voting, Alderman Price. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The petition is as follows; -
"TO LMMITT RATLIFF, City Engineer and building Inspector of the City of Fayetteville;
" The undersigned, Dyke Lumber Company presents this, its application for a permit to build,con-
struct and opperate its building and business in accordance with the accompanying_drawaings,plans
and specifications upon the lot owned by it in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,described as
follows,to-wit;
" Lots number eleven,twelve and thirteen in block number one of Watson subdivision of lot num
ber fourteen,block number eight, county court addition to the City of Fayetteville,in Washington
County, Arkansas,according to the plat of said sub -division on file in the office of the Circuit
Clerk and recorder of said county and -state aforesaid.
IT It is proposed to erect said building and conduct said butinesson the northeast corner
of said.property,said building to be in accordance with the plans,specifications and drwaings
attached,and to be 92 feet front on St. Charles Street,extending back a distance of 100 feet.
IT The purpose and intention of your petitioner is to handle, sell,keep and furnish
building materials and products of the following classes and descriptions, to -wit;

R_:GUL R AL"ETING OF `iH CITY COUNCIL HELD FEBRUARY 2nd,1925.
' On motion duly put and un nimusly carried Alderm n Phillips was elected as President pro
tempore.
Present The Clerk, Aldermen Drake, Harding, 64 Phillips and Price; absent;
the Mayor; Aldermen Jagkson and Mintun.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The report of the Street Commissioner for the week ending January 31, 1925 was received
and filed.
The reports of the Police Judge wnd the City coflilector were referred to the Auditing Com
mittee.
Alderman Harding moved that the Payroll of the street laborers for the week ending Jan.31,
1925 be allowed and odreaed paid and also the following bills, and the Clerk directed to
issue warrants for the same. This motion was seconded by Alderm-n Drake and received the
following vote; ayes Aldermen Dr ke, Harding Phillips and Price; nays none; absent and. not
voting Aldermen Mintun and gackson, and was declared passed b3. the President pro tem.

On motion the Clerk was directed to notify the Superintendent of the City Hospital that
the Council desired a report of the work and the financial condition of that institution.
Llderman Harding introduced an Ordinance to fix the license for Opera Houses, which was
rezid the first time. Alderman Harding then moved that the R-kles be suspended and the Ordina

placed on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Drake and received the fo
following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Phillips Price; nays none; absent and not
voting Aldermen Jackson and Mintun and was declared passed by the President prop tem. The
Ordinance was read the second time; and was left on the calender on its second reading.
On motion the following bills against the City were referred to the Auditing Committee;
Southwest Power Co $352.33; Star Printery 256.00 Electric Service Co. 27.00; C.m.Han-
sard, 3.00. ,
Alderman Harding moved that the following bills which had been approved by the Auditing Com
mittee be allowed and the Clerk directed to issue warrants for the same; Lembke 7:Jackson ypkloo-
$1.50; Pierce Cil Corporation $8.00; J.I.Holcomb & Co. $9.00; Campbell & Bell $6.25.
Alderman Price moved that the bill of Nance & Seamstee for legal services be allowed and
the Clerk directed to. issue a warrant for the same, $50.00.
After some discussion of the appropriation for the benefit of Hill Avenue Improvement
District, form which no definite plan was evolved, the Council adjourned to February 9th,

C.O.Lollar applied for a permit to erect a garage at the Norbury property on College Ave.,
which was granted, subject to the approval of the City Engineer.
A.W.Jamison applied for a permit to his son Daniel to drive an Auto, which was granted, sub-
ject to the approval of the Chief of Police.
The report of the City :Engineer and of the En gineer for the State Fire Prevention Bureau

Alderman Drake and carried by the unanimous vote of the members of the Council present was ordered.

Alderman Mintun introduced an Ordinance approving the purchase of the Fire Engine and making
provision for the payment for the same, which was read the first time. Alderm-1:n Harding moved
that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading. This motion was secon
ded by Alderma;.n Jackson and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson,
Mintun, Phillips; nays none; absent ;nd not voting Alderman Price and was declared passed by the
Mayor. The Ordinance was read the second time. Alderman Phillips moved that the Rules be furthea-
suspended and the Ordinance pk&ced on its third reading and final passage. This motion was second
ed by Alderman Mintun and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson, Min—
tun, Phillips; nays none; absent and not voting Alderman Price, and was declared passed by the Maw
yor. The Ordinance was read the third time. The Mayor then called for the vote on the passage of
the Ordinance., which was as follows- ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips.;nays

with the American- LaFrance Fire Engine Company of Texas to purchase One(1)"Type 75" 6-cyl., 105
H.P.Triple,Comb. Pumper,Hose and Chem. Car,with 750 -gal. Rotary Gear Fire Pump,at and for the
agreed price of Thirteen Thousand Nine Hundred Forty Dollars (.13,940.00); Four Thousand(04,000*
df said amount to be_paid in cash,and the balance to be paid by City Warrants,payable in the
