Alderman Harding introduced a resolution approving thereport of the Board of Improvement
of North Leverett Avenue Improvement District Number Oneeerand moved its adpption. This motion
was s:conded by Alderman Jacksonoand received the following vote;ayes Aldermen Drake, Hardin
Jackson, B4intun, PhilllOps, Price; nays none; absent and not voting none, and was declared
passed by the Mayor. A copy is as follows;-

WHER;'AS, at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, aArkansas,held on the
19th day of January,1925,there was.presented to said City Council,by D.R.soff, Henry Smith,
and J..'.Dowell,as the Boadd of Improvement bf North Leverett Avenue Improvement District
Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,their report, together with the plans of th
the work to be done in the construction of the improvement contemplated by said Improvement
District,and the said report having leen read in open meeting of said Council,and said plans
having been exhibited to Xgpj said C ouncil,and to each member thereof,with a full and
complete explanation of all the details thereof,and it appearing, from said plans, that the
estimated cost of the construction of said. improvement,exclusive of interest charges, and
inclusive of contingencies,is the sum of $"19,000.00, and the said Council being satisfied th
that said plans will best subserve the purposes of said Improvement District,and that the sa
same are correct;
NOW,THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS;
That said plans and said report be, and the same are hereby approved and adopted, and that Is
said improvement be constructed according to said plans„and at a cost not to exceed,exclu-
sive of interest charges, and inclusive of contingencies, the sum of $19,000.00.

Arkansas Rail Road Commission asking them to AX/ re uire the Western Union Telegraph Compa
ny to maintain a 24 hour service at Fayetteville, A/ IXO# l Arkansas. This motion was second
ed by Alderman Jackson and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake,wtHarding, Jackso
IeLintun, Phillips, Price; naye none; absent and not voting none an�,.was declared passed lit' th
Mayor.
On motion by Alderman Mintun,seconded b y Alderman,Price ans carried.by the unanimous
vote of the Council the Chairman of the Fire Committee Was directed to arrange with the
Goss -Rogers Electric Co., the terms of a contract to be entered into as to the use of the
South wall of the Fire House,
The Finance Committee reported that, while they rrealized that the Taxi owners were payer
ing a large sum for their privileges, the amount-chargged by the City was not excessive, and
they therefore recommended that no change be made in the City license. On motion by Alderma
harding, seconded by Aldermen Jackson and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council, the
report was ordered received'and filed.

' The time having arrived for the consideration of the Occupation Tax Ordinance,the matter
was introduced by the Mayor who made a statement of thelegal status of the Ordinance,showing --
the same to be extremely precarious ;in view of which fact he stated that he had directed the
Collector to discontinue all collections under the Ordi race. There followed a discussion of
the Ordinance in which members of -*e Council and a number of citizens took part.
' Finally Alderman Harding in�T ogiuced an Ordinance repealing Ordinance Number 531,the
Occupation Tax, which was read hhe.ffirst,time. Alderman Jackson moved that the Rules be sus-
pended and the Ordin;:nce placed on" its.second re -ding. This motion was seconded by Alderman
Drake, and received the followine,vote;'ayes Aldermen Drake, Jackxgn, Mintun Phillips; nays
none; absent and not voting 41derman-Price,and was declared passed by the Mayor.The Ordinance
was real the second time. Alderman Phillips then moved that the Rules be further suspended
and the Ordinn.nce placed on its third reading and final passage. Alderman Harding seconded.

Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of F yetteville, Arkansas;
SECTION ONE:
That Ordinance number 41, known as the occupation tax ordinancebe, and the same i
is hereby repealed,together with the amended Ordinances thereto,to-wit; Ordinance number 534
and Ordinance 535.
SECTION TWO:.
That all sums of money collected from any person,._firm or corporation under said
Ordinance be,and the same is hereby ordered refunded to such parties b$ the City Collector.
SECTION THREE:
That all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith be, and the same
are hereby repealed.

The repoit of the Street Commissioner for the week ending January 24th,1925 was received
and filed. Alderman Mintun moved that the payroll of the street 1 borers be allowed and the
Clerk directed t6 issue warrants for the same.Alderman Jackson seconded this motion which re-
ceived the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake', Harding, Jackson ? Mintun, Phillips; nays none
absent and not voting Alderman Price. The mayor declared the motion passed.

ment District, which was ret.d the first time. Alderman Jackson moved that the R ules be sus-
pended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading.7nis motion was seconded by Alderman

WHEREAS,
the majority in value of the property holders owning property adjoining the lots to be
affected and situated within Douglas Street Improvement District Number One of the City of
Fayetteville,rkansas,organized for the purpose of grading, rolling and paving the streets
and parts of streets within Douglas Street Improvement District Number One of the City of
Fayettevi le, Arkansas,have petitioned the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
for the construction of said improvement and th#t the cost thereof shall be charged and assess-
edagainst the real prop rty within said District according to the benefits to be received;and

said benefits received by each lot, block or parcel/ of real property situated within
said District equals or exceeds the local assessment; and

District be assessed scording to the assessment list for said Improvement District as the same
now remains in the office of the Recorder or City Clerk; and that 10 per centum of said lots,
Blocks and parcelsshall be paid annually on or before the first Monday in January bntil/ the
whole of said local assessment shall be paid. ,
SECTION TWO:
That all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith be, and the same
are hereby.repealed, and this Ordinance shall bake effect and be in force from and after its
passage, approval and publication.

The Dyke Lumber Company presented t petition for permission to erect a building in which to
keep and furnish building materials. Alderman Harding moved that the permit be granted,subject to
the approval of the City Rngineer, Alderman Dr ake seconded this motion, which received the follef
lowing vote; ayes, Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips; nays none; absent and not
voting, Alderman Price. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The petition is as follows; -
